Brawl breaks out at Region XIV Tournament in Jacksonville...

Several junior college coaches have confirmed a brawl between some players from both the Lon Morris and San Jacinto men's basketball teams on Friday at the Bob and Vivian Smith Gymnasium on the campus of Lon Morris College in Jacksonville.

The brawl began as the San Jacinto women's team was warming up for their quarterfinal round game against Panola.

One witness told KTBB and Smoaky.com, "they just started swinging at each other, and it wasn't just a little scuffle, it was an all-out brawl, punches were landed, and the police on the scene did a tremendous job breaking things up...and pepper spray was used."

Lon Morris College head coach Dale Dotson told me, "I was in the hospitality suite, so I didn't see anything, and by the time I got into the gymnasium, everything had calmed down."

Meanwhile, San Jacinto College assistant coach Scott Horstman confirmed, "Dale has his kids at their dorm and we have our at the hotel, and we're both in lock-down mode."

Horstman added, "I just hope we can somehow play a basketball gameon Saturday."

Ironically, Lon Morris and San Jacinto will play each other on Saturday at 3:00pm, in the Region XIV men's quarterfinal round.
