The relevance of the game itself can be debated..but for me and my job its perfect to get 16, 24 or in this case 128 coaches in the same place that I can pick their brains and find out more about their teams...there's the old saying "work smarter; not harder" and for me I'd feel like I wasn't doing my job as well as I could if I didn't take full advantage of these kinds of opportunities to engage and network w/coaches

I believe for the kids that play here is a lot of relevance. The fans of every team that doesn't win a State 7on7 championship will say it doesn't matter. I believe every kid that goes down there wants to win. If nothing else, there is always a pride factor.

Most of the "7on7 means nothing" crowd is from schools who either a. Don't Play or b. Aren't good at it

I prefer to keep it in its place a useful tool to evaluate individual talent and at times teams depending on the individual approach to the game

I view 7 on 7 as I do artificial turf and indoor practice facilities.   It is nice to have, but those that win in the fall would probably be winning if they never had it. And even if you have a nice one, it doesn't guarantee you'll win in the fall.

I think thats fair....

For the crowd who think the results mean nothing was The Woodlands State 7on7 crown a marker to tell us that maybe they'll have a special team last year??

One to watch this year....Westlake really struggled this summer....is that more evidence that they could be down?

Never seen a 7 on 7, but wish I could.  I saw a picture several years ago, that I have tried to locate again and can't find, of Jordan Shipley  going way up for a catch.  That kid was an amazing athlete.

7on7 is actually really fun to watch. Especially during a slow time like late June, early July. If you enjoy circus catches and some smack talk you'd like it. I'll be there covering West Brook, Liberty, Hardin-Jefferson and Deweyville.

Liberty defeats Goliad 26-14 to advance to the Consolation Round of 16. Liberty takes on Canton at 10:15 (Winner to face Gilmer/Stephenville winner)

Hardin-Jefferson defeats Crandall 32-13 to advance. Hardin-Jefferson takes on Sweetwater at 10:15 (Winner to face Brazosport/Lorena winner)

Shepherd defeats Mineral Wells 40-20 to advance.  Shepherd takes on Heritage at 10:15 (Winner to face Pleasanton/Sweeny winner)

Deweyville falls to Pleasonton 33-13.
