KFDM COOP Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Morgan on the money in Lady Indians' victory HIGH SCHOOL SOCCERPORT NECHES -- Michelle Morgan was instrumental in helping Port Neches-Groves to score each of its two goals on a night when the Lady Indians pleased coach Aimee Bates with their strong all-around performance. Morgan and her mates produced one of their season's strongest, if not the strongest outing, in a 2-0 victory over Little Cypress-Mauriceville at The Reservation. The PN-G senior had a first-half corner kick and a hard second-half shot from 30 yards which both turned into goals for PN-G. Alexis Smithy followed Michelle's corner kick in the game's 10th minute, giving the hosts a 1-0 halftime advantage. The LC-M goalkeeper batted Michelle's hard shot right to Marissa Elam who pounded home an important second-half insurance goal. "We played really well," a pleased PN-G coach said. "I would say it was our best overall game. We possessed the ball well and we were really getting some good looks in the second half." PN-G (15-2 and 12-1) dominated shots on goal, 27-6. The shutout belonged to senior goalkeeper Brittney Fruge. LC-M fell to 10-8 and 8-5. The Lady Indians will entertain Vidor on Monday night at 7 p.m., and will travel to Zaharias Stadium on Tuesday at 5:30 for a game at Beaumont Central.
