I just saw a quote of former Dem Senator Patrick Moynihan that I think is significant to this thread:

I feel Big Girl will come on here and outline, or even better, give a coherent and concise (and not to mention irrefutable) point by point detailed analysis of why socialistic medicine is the best path. I will impatiently bang on the F5 key in great anticipation of her impending response. I don't even care that I might have to endure the inevitable multitude of "grab um" posts or posts calling me a racist. Repeal it so the poor can start using the emergency room for free again instead of being required to have insurance, no preventitive care for the poor, the middle class can continue paying high insurance premiums anyway, the pharmaceutical companies can continue overpricing their product. The Obama family will continue getting government checks and government insurance. Basically nothing changes.
