D3zii Posted July 18, 2017 Report Posted July 18, 2017 Now I know many people will automatically say W.O.S or maybe even Newton which is rightfully so But me and a friend were talking today and Pound for Pound Westbrook may be a close 2nd. If you look at their line of work as well as playing In 6A and being good year in and year out they have a legitimate argument . Also correct me if I'm wrong but they don't have a losing record to any team in Setx..(tied with WOS) plus they have a state championship which a lot of good teams can't say, they put players in college and sometimes the NFL. I know some might not agree but the numbers don't lie (I'm a French Grad/ Jag fan) I won't say they're #1 only because of that late 90s- early 2000's Idk if yall have already had this discussion but I would like to hear you guys arguments as to why or why not and also if you have some teams that should be mention My top 3 1.W.O.S 2.WB 3.Newton Quote

Why are we just giving it straight to WOS? Because they won back to back state titles with a really good group and a really good QB who was the one who kept that train on the track. Newton is just as consistent as them we been to 5 State Games. We have had what 26 or 27 straight playoff appearances, we have made it to atleast the second round of the playoffs for atleast 15 years in a row. I'm just saying Newton is no pushover and we have to atleast be in the conversation. It's not just WOS and everyone else. I love WOS have a lot of friends who have played there but Newton is a tradition rich program who deserves to be in the conversation. BMTSoulja1 Posted July 19, 2017 Report Posted July 19, 2017 Stowers had great years. 2005 - district championship 2006 - Great season - 2nd round loss 2008 - best season in Jaguar history But let's not forget about that horrible 2007 season. And we were not in lack of talent either. Something to think about. Imo, I would've said Suggs was better, back when he coached at 88 Jaguar Dr. Quote

CardinalBacker Posted July 19, 2017 Report Posted July 19, 2017 Newton should be proud of all they've accomplished, but I believe they just don't get the same level of respect because they play in such a smaller division than most of the other "good" programs in the area. It's hard to say "we're the best" when there are probably 15 programs in the area (bigger schools) that would beat you on your best year. I admire the dedication and consistent results they get up there, though. It's impressive. Kinda like having a really neat model of a corvette instead of an actual corvette. WOS has my vote. And a big shout-out to Silsbee Tiger fans for not nominating themselves in this one. D3zii and L-Train11 2 Quote
RoschonsBigBro Posted July 19, 2017 Report Posted July 19, 2017 Before last year, I had no information about PNG. I had always seen them as a rival. As I should, every single person from my family's last generation on both sides are Lincoln graduates and proud of it. I wanted that too. Fast forward, today, though I don't have the emotional attachment to the school or history as other PNG fans do, I can definitely appreciate that wins and losses record. That's a long list of arses kicked in the history of an old football program. Question- what would memorials record be if, SFA, TJ, and LHS records were included in theirs? prepballfan 1 Quote
