Don't know what he said in private unrecorded settings.  But I do know that he said that it was irresponsible and unpatriotic for then President Bush to let the debt increase only to subsequently let it increase at a much higher rate.

I agree, that is more than enough reason to start secession proceedings. I'm fairly certain the Liberals still want to move toward Socialism even after witnessing the damage an extreme ideologue can do to the country in just 8 years.
