22-5A DEC Meeting This Week

Tues. Sept. 26

Mon. Oct 2

Then all play on Saturday Oct. 7 which will be the only week that teams will play 2 games in the same week.

After that, back to regular schedule.

Will a non-district game be able to be squeezed in?  Doubtful.  I believe the waiver of the "5 day rule" was only for district games.

None of the coaches I spoke with said they would be trying to get a game in next week. Things have been known to change.

I wonder if Crosby's Stadium is available for Saturdays and off Fridays. I'd love to get a look at some of your teams.

Another factor would be the lack of dance partners.  After this week, I know of only 2 schools that won't have games and that is because they have both cancelled 9/15 games.  The only game that isn't already set that is in jeopardy the Bridge City/WO-S game next Friday.

I mean we don't have problems in the first round it's those darn FB schools that have been killing us lately.

Concern I heard (and I'm sure Ashly too) with scheduling something next week was that the compressed district schedule is frontloaded with short weeks. Ozen coach Taylor said he's unlikely to play a game next week because his team, which is smallest in district, is playing 4 games in 17 days (including against Central) before their bye. Wants his players to stay as fresh as possible before that stretch.

I completely understand and figure that most coaches feel that way.

That's messed up for the kids that have to travel long distances on week nights. I bet some parents aren't going to go for that

They travel those distances during Basketball, baseball, softball etc. on Tuesdays and for tourneys.
