The phrase "Better late than never" never rang more true than it does tonight across several football fields in Southeast Texas as the Silsbee Tigers and the Newton Eagles open their respective 2017 football seasons tonight in Newton!  The Tigers, under second year coach Randy Smith, come off their 10th straight playoff season.  Meanwhile, W.T. Johnston's Eagles enter the season with a 23 season playoff streak.  The Eagles took an 8-6 lead in this series with a 49-33 win last year in Silsbee.
