BMTSoulja1
I know one thing... Tigers have so much to work on. 1st of all, the O-Line. They got worn out in the middle. 2nd penalties. Horrible execution. You have to get better before district rolls around. 3rd, QB just can't take sack after sack after sack. They, Newton, telegraphed EVERY time they were going to blitz. There needs to be some plays ready. 4th, if you have of the fastest kids in the country on your team, you've got to get him more involved on offense. From a coaching standpoint, there's no way you get shut out in a half by a team that MIGHT have 25 players on their team in total. Defense played well, despite being on the field the entire game, but they still missed several tackles, most of which were tackles for losses. No way the Newton players break like 3 or 4 tackles when bottled up. Hopefully, since this first game is in the books, Silsbee has a gauge of where the level of play needs to be 15+ penalties won't cut it. And I just don't understand how the same RB ran for 1,800 yards as a sophmore gets bottled up all night. Some things needs to be tweaked up to get this kid going for next week. I look forward to drastic improvements next week. back to the lab, Tigers.

ST413
We definitely have a lot to work on no doubt there. This game wasn't really as close as the score in my eyes. Our offense had one big play score, and then maybe gains 10 yds for the field goal. One big punt return and that's it. Offensive line needs to improve, it's only game one. Same can be said for the qb role. Have to get more time but also when you have a little time need to get rid of it a little quicker. We definitely need to get the ball in both those speedy receivers hands, but those routes are took too long to come open. Not really worried about the running game at this point. One difference Adonis is facing is that he doesn't have that big threat of a running qb back there helping open that middle up for him. One thing about tonight's game, you are not going to run the ball outside on Newton. As far as the defensive side of the ball, well it needs some work too. I saw some things I liked, at times, good hitting, some good tackling, some good coverage and some just outright good plays. However I also saw backs not get covered coming out of the backfield, Newton getting outside on us too much, and giving up too many yards on cutbacks. But like I said about the offense, it's early. We have only had one scrimmage before tonight. As far as special teams we had kind of a mixed bag. Some good punts and a few poor ones. Some god coverage on some of those punts. Good job on punt returns, didn't really get much of a kick return. And the bright spot, we have a kicker!!!! First game of the year we go 2-2 on extra points and get a 45 yd FIELD GOAL!!! It's only the first game against a always solid Newton team. Let's just sit back and see how these young men do. AggiesAreWe
Silsbee's lack of offense in 2nd half put their defense on the tired side. Newton took advantage of a tired Tiger D. Difference of the game: Too many 3 and outs for Silsbee in 2nd half.
CardinalBacker
I'm surprised at the outcome. Is Newton that good, did Silsbee lay an egg, or both?

Old school eagle
The difference in this game was Newton was the better team. We always have fewer boys suited up this is nothing new. It's how Coach Johnstnson prepares them and the culture they grow up in. We had a lot more kids going both ways than Silsbee did but check out the stats. Take of that 70 yd to pass (which was beautiful) and Newton'D did a great job. We only have around 300 kids in school. How about a little credit for consistently beating schools 2 1/2 times bigger. I don't see anyone else doing that. EaglesFootball and Morris_era

BADSANTA
Listening to the game and a watching a few games last yeaf, this offense scheme is still questionable. Adonis, did well his sophomore because he is a solid back but had a very mobile QB who rushed for 1800 yards and 20 something touchdowns. Silsbee QB this year isn't as noble and the scheme is much different. Tyler was a dynamic back who made the offense last year with Jones and Barnes. The Silsbee OL really needs to dig in and get better or this team is going nowhere. I hope this was just bad play due to being 1st game and a week or so no practice. Defense is much improved but can't be on the field all night. Not sure why on 3 different possessions we threw the ball od 2nd and short. Silsbee needs to keep the ball in Barnes and Lowe's hands 50% of the time. Alot of games left. I see us as a 3rd lr 4th seed or staying home.
