longball24 Posted September 24, 2017 Report Posted September 24, 2017 Have family there. Go to the other events, look at the crowd size listen to the people. They will tell you sports is a waste of time. They will spend 20,000 dollars on a horse or cow and will not spend .50 cents on athletics.there is only a hand full of people that will invest in sports. jv_coach 1 Quote

FFA and rodeo aren't the issues in Huntington, otherwise lots of schools would be in trouble. The issue is the Jimmys and Joes. There simply aren't any players there and there aren't any players there because no one has ever stayed around there long enough to build a program. It will never get better until a coach invests. Yes, give the staff a chance, but to say that the other guys did not care is the Admin or community spreading the blame instead of taking responsibility Quote
PlayActionPass Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 I have no idea about the commitment of previous staffs, and I have no idea about Admin or Community placing blame, all I DO know is that it will take a special coach (staff) to stay the course and build something successful there and they will have to have the support of the Administration and the Community to get it done. Quote
longball24 Posted September 25, 2017 Report Posted September 25, 2017 I agree it will take a special coach and staff. But I question weather the administration and community have the commitment and resolve to see it through. This will take more time and money than most people will commit to especially the money side. Other departments and activities will have to take cuts to their budgets to get the athletic department the funds they need to compete. Look at the facilities it will take millions. Quote

Man, someone must've coached at Huntington before moving on to his JV gig. All that aside, If the community doesn't care about football, then why would they care enough to run coaches out of town? These guys are taking this job and leaving at the first sign of greener pastures and in doing so they are crippling any chance Huntington has to every build a program. It will take someone who actually wants to be there to turn the thing around. PlayActionPass 1 Quote

Nope, never coached at Hunington, coached against them, and the reason they leave for greener pasture is that the admin and the community put them in a bind. The reason they run the coaches off is the coach is a threat to those who have power and people will do a lot of back stabbing in order to keep their power. Quote

Then why don't they just quit playing football? Quote
