Here's the problem. Everybody has opinions in all kinds of issues. Somewhere along the way we've all agreed that OUR opinion is not just an opinion, but rather an indisputable fact and anyone that disagrees with OUR interpretation is a "phobe" or an "ist." Disagree with with a conservative and you're  a socialist. Disagree with a person of color and you're a racist. If you have a different opinion than a female and you're labeled a sexist or a misogynist. Any opinion that is voiced in opposition to a liberal is now "hate speech." If you believe every word of your Bible (in regards to homosexuality) then you are a homophobe.

I appreciate that these young men feel the need to protest what they feel are oppressions to people of color. I also appreciate the opinions of people who feel like there are much more pressing issues facing people of color than "bad cops."

These players absolutely are entitled to their opinions and are free to protest as they see fit. However, it's my contention that their message is lost upon a lot of their intended audience who find themselves feeling insulted when our flag/anthem is disrespected.  The protest may be on point, but the point of the protest is lost in the delivery. For example, my feelings on oppression and inequality might be totally in line with Kapernick's, but if my protest included me showing up in public in blackface, I'd just end up pissing off a bunch of people who would never get past my insult to hear my message.

None were killed today. That's a start. Do you really think black people and the NFL will win a war with fans? I don't.

Most fans agree with the peaceful protests. You long for the days when a white man could kill a black man in front of 53 witnesses, yet walk away a free man, don't you? You long for the days when a black man wouldn't dare look a white guy in the eyes, don't you? Get over it

Why does it bother you when people kneel. Do you want them to be forced to stand up?

Pathetic thing to say...not sure why it's ok on here.

What does you being upset about it accomplish ?(except giving me great pleasure) People will continue to take a knee whether you like it or not. Get over it. This is not the 60s.

Great non answer. What is taking a knee going to do for oppressed black people? Pretty straight forward question. Surely a well informed black woman could tell me how kneeling will bring about change.

I don't agree with everything here, but this is a good post.  We need more dialogue like this imo.  Instead of, as you point out in the first paragraph, what happens in practice.

You really are delusional.  Sound like you could use some professional help.  You have so much hatred for white people.

The poor oppressed white man. What shall you do? Give me a break. Surely, you can think of a more valid response.

Hey, great response.  Btw, in my post I ask for nt to name another demographic group that the Govt oppresses besides whites and specifically, white males.  He didn't, so would you like to?   Please.  Name one.  Let me guess, you can't, because there isn't one, but you think that's okay, because 200+ years ago African tribes sold other Africans to European and American slavers to bring over here for a very small number of people to buy.  As is often said, I never owned slaves & I doubt you ever picked cotton, but you think it's okay (funny even) for another group to be oppressed.  Well the world spins around.  At the rate Muslims are enslaving Africans, you may get a chance to pick cotton in your old age, but you can console yourself in the fact I'll be dead before I live under Islam.

What a waste of words upon a feeble mind. You nailed it REB. She will just have to get over it, you know like she tells everyone else to get over blacks hating their country.

I've been enduring for what seems like an eternity the argument that the NFL players have the right to protest. Every post in favor of the protests always emphatically site the fact that the players have this right. My question is "Who is denying that this right exists?" Can someone please point to any group or any person that denies that the NFL players have a "right" to protest. For you people that keep qualifying your statements with this fact, why do you think other people do not have the "right" to protest the NFL players protests. You seem to want to oppress any opposition to the players stance...which is in fact denying one's right to protest. For the life of me I can't get a grasp on the absurdity of this stance. Will someone please explain it?

NFL must be getting the message.  Da Bears and Da Pack both stood the the National Anthem.  Denver says they'll stand also.  Didn't think Elway wanted his team to be known as UN-Patriotic.  Are they learning  a lesson?  We'll see.  Again -- one does not want to be on the wrong side of this issue.  But, as usual when the left has nothing they turn it into a race issue.

I totally forgot there was a game tonight.  I watched the Astros and college football while I worked.   I guess I didn’t miss much

Did the oppression vanish? Well I have to admit that was fast. Maybe while some were kneeling they asked God to forgive them. Lmao. Racists lose another one. Chalk one up for Trump.

Guess those black lives don't matter as much as a paycheck. I mean they are laughing stock now. I'm laughing.

They are now standing for the anthem. How do you feel now? Did your RN abilities rid them of their oppression? That must be a fragile thing.....oppression. Lmao!

Like dangling a carrot.
