The Newton Eagles continue their preparation for the 2017 district season tonight as they host the East Chambers Buccaneers. W.T. Johnston's Eagles improved their record to 3-0 with a 55-14 win over Bridge City last Friday.   Meanwhile, Russ Sutherland's Buccaneers improved their 2017 record to 2-1 last week with a 69-0 win over New Waverly.

Newton is the real deal. Was not at the game, but EC was a little beat up after tonight. Good time for the Rice Festival and a bye week. The real season starts in two weeks!

Good luck in your district EC. You have a good coach and he will bring EC back to the good old days when EC was a tough out.

Don't judge your team to harshly, Newton is really that good this year with numerous weapons that can score from anywhere. The bad news for opponents is that Newton gets 25 kids back next year.

Had that discussion this morning. That tells you how good Newton is, 41-17 over Silsbee then dismantle an average, but solid, EC team. Along with the BC beatdown. Good luck Eagles, expecting big things this season.

Please, please one game at a time.  We don't need these kids looking any farther than  the next game. We've had great teams come up short too many times
