Mass shooting in Vegas

Well, the article questions how one person could hit so many people, and "expertly wield an automatic rifle" for so long.  With 22,000 people standing shoulder to shoulder, and with him shooting extremely fast rounds, I'd be willing to bet he hit 300-400 people with the first 200 rounds he fired, which would've been in under a minute.  It would be almost impossible for a bullet to miss someone.  Also, with the minimal recoil of the AR-15, I highly doubt someone would become exhausted shooting it for ten minutes, especially with pauses in between to reload.

I agree.  Have they announced he was shooting an AR-15?  I haven't heard.  There are a number of potential auto rifles with a lot of recoil, but the AR-15 shouldn't have been taxing.  But you're correct about hitting people.  In fact, with the first clip, it'd been hard as hades to miss anyone.

I'm fascinated the reporters are so fixated on how he got the weapons & ammo to his room.  Seen reports he'd often stayed long stays in casinos, so he was familiar.  Friday & Sat afternoons in big Casinos are bedlam with all the folks checking in.  You could easily carry them up to your room in baggage on multiple trips and no one would ever realize it.

I am still very curious about motive.  It's possible he could've just snapped, but with all the planning and forethought that went into this (girlfriend gone - he wires her money - acquisition of the number of guns and large amount of ammo) it wasn't a spur of the moment thing.  Doesn't sound like snapped is the right word.  And again, imo, the assurances by the FBI that he had no ties to ISIS (Islam) only 12 hours after the incident is suspicious in itself.  He doesn't fit the profile, but for them to make a statement like that, that quick, is a red flag.

Also curious about no apparent muzzle flashes from his room.  The alleged muzzle flashes from a lower floor is hard for me to believe.  Never stayed at the Mandalay, but most of those resorts don't have windows that open (don't want the big losers jumping to their death).  Hope the Govt is open to what all the investigation reveals, but after the last 8 years, I have absolutely no reason to trust anything they say.

I love how the right loves to call things #fakenews, but leans on infowars sites of it's ilk for their information. 99% of the links posted here are from sites that would classify as #fakenews. This board is full of Trump puppets that do as he says.

One internet tin foil hat theory that kinda actually makes some sense is the shooters job.  The jobs he had made a decent living, but nothing spectacular.  Real estate investing can be very profitable but hard to believe enough to gamble $30k a day.

He owned 2 planes and was a licensed pilot.  Owned real estate and gambled a ton, which are both ways criminals wash their money.

Was he running drugs/guns in those planes?  Or was he just that good of a gambler that he always won?  If it was the former, I can see why the fbi is being so tight lipped.  Also this kinda goes along with his limited online presence and hardly any pictures that exist of the guy.

I wish to challenge your assertion.  Please document your 99% claim because I think it is very similar to the claim of another board member that he knew people who were troubled by the Kaepernick situation and yet were not troubled by the James Byrd dragging ( even though they were 20 years apart)

Fake news is not defined by the source...it's defined by whether it's fake or not.

Nice move, though...right out of the handbook.

Right out of what handbook? I'm going to assume you mean the liberal handbook because the assumption is that anyone who opposes trump or any of you idiots who deify him are liberal. Well, I am not liberal....not by a long shot. I am also not a trump supporter....not by a long shot. This man is the worst thing to happen to our country in ages and most of you are playing right into his hand.

So I MUST be an idiot if I disagree...lol.

So tell me, why is Trump the worst thing that has happened to this country in ages...give some specific examples.

I'm thinking Obamacare is bad, Frank-Dodd is bad, all the scandals under Obama are bad.

Let's hear it, what has Trump done to make you say that.

Just to be clear, are you saying that there is "real" news on infowars?

I would ask you, where would you go for 'real' news?  I watch CBS every evening.  Their news is so slanted it's pathetic, and one of their top people said she was, "not even sympathetic to the Vegas victims since  they were gun owners and most likely Republicans".  And Rather ran his fabricated piece on Bush.  CNN & others have been exposed creating fake news.  Ninety percent of the news on Trump has been negative.  So again I ask you, where do you go for 'real' news?

I'm not trying to put you down, because I don't know where to go for real news.  Only online news source that I've heard has never published false news is Breitbart, although I'll admit it's slanted.  What we use to refer to as news, which was relatively not slanted or fabricated, and had reporters who actually researched their stories, is evidently extinct.

The majority of the conservatives on this Forum were not "Trump Supporters".  But when confronted with Hillary vs Whoever, Whoever (in this case Trump) wins every time.  You say you're not a liberal.  Can you name 10 good things Obama did for our country in his 8 years?  If you can, you'd have to be a liberal.  I can probably name at least four Trump has done already, and he's only been in office less than a year.

Who are these posters on here that deify Trump? It has been stated over and over...and over (we even had a poll) by every non-Liberal on here, and practically each has admitted/stated emphatically that they voted against Hillary. So again, who are you referring to when you say "you idiots who deify him"? And when you are contemplating an answer, be sure to answer LumRaiderFan's questions also. We have had plenty of posters come on here, call everyone idiots, then run from any questions that ask for clarification or evidence of their contentions. Let's see if you follow that worn out path.

From the article: "During a live press conference, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo revealed that the Las Vegas gunman, Stephen Paddock, may have been “radicalized” and that authorities were attempting to uncover the source of his radicalization."  Are you saying that Infowars put words in the Sheriff's mouth?

Trump spent today visiting victims in Vegas. This guy refused to sit down when the First Lady and Trump came in to visit him. He was wounded by bullets to the leg.

Still waiting on the list that makes Trump the worst thing in ages, 2wedge.

    • I agree but Hitchcock had better skill players
    • Waco LaVega is about equal to Hitchcock in speed and size.
    • You’re the one talking about Elementary school kids.  What I’m saying is that there are kids who play Jr School ball in GCCISD and then transfer into BHISD/GPISD/LPISD/DPISD between 8th and 9th.  Doing so means no PAPF/eligibility questionnaire and they get to play Freshman/JV, work out with the team, etc. and look homegrown because they transferred before freshman year.  it’s a loophole.  All the big programs do it.  That’s why the UIL rules changes, to close up the 8th-to-9th transfer portal, and it isn’t even taking effect until Aug 1 2025 so you’ll see these transfers this summer. Also, as far as BHISD being closed instead of open, just look at the GCCISD transfer numbers I posted.  GCCISD loses twice as many kids to BHISD per year, the “closed” district, than they do to the open Districts in the area.  Anyone who lives here knows folks who’ve used MeeMaw’s address to get their kids in there.  It is what it is and if it wasn’t, UIL wouldn’t be changing those rules and sending one of their own to the DECs now would they?   Go ask Coach Abseck how many kids in his program are 8th Grade transfers.  We know that at North Shore that number is at least 20% because of the numbers they had to provide UIL during their recruiting investigation.  I’ll bet BHISD’s numbers are AT LEAST that.  Again, THEY ALL DO IT.
    • According to Texas Tribune, Gccisd, Laporte and deer park are all rated B. Barbers Hill is an A. GC has a higher 4 year graduation rate than LP or DP. BH is far and away the best district on this side of town. GC has a much higher percentage economically disadvantaged at 71.7% with LP being next closest at 52%. Surprised that GC is performing so well considering. All of the players that would likely make a great football team are out by GCM and Sterling. If GCM had Lee's coach and dropped back down into 5A division 1, they would be able to compete very well against BH and LP. I don't know what their problem is with getting the athletes to gel into an actual team. Lee still beat them both this year and was sort of a down year by Lee's standards. Lot of injuries some kids moved out of district and they are paper thin as it is.
