The President did NOT INSTRUCT any boss to fire anyone.  You are obviously talking about the NFL and the owners/commissioner made a business decision to stem the decline in the popularity( and loss of revenues which, I might add, are shared in by the players) of the sport which was NEVER intended to be a stage for political statements.

As for your second statement, congratulations on carefully adhering to the advice of Mr. Obama to be tolerant, civil, and respectful of others.

He said, "they should be fired", which is a suggestion to the owners, or the lady who is the current NFL Commissioner.  Jerry Jones obviously agrees.  One of the very few things Jones has gotten right as the owner, imo.

So did a good number of Americans.

You may not have been listening, but they have been saying it for a while.  The NFL was not listening, either.  They tried to play off the falling ratings last year as being due to the presidential race when time and again Americans were making it known that they, not Donald Trump, were offended by the disrespect paid to our Nation's flag and the National Anthem by NFL players.

It is not as if the NFL listened to Trump.  When he first tweeted about the issue, many more players decided to take a knee or a seat.  And the NFL gave the players its full support.  The statement made by the NFL on Tuesday was made only because enough Americans turned off their TV sets, no longer bought tickets and no longer bought the merchandise that had long financed their enterprise.  Many want to paint this as a Trump victory, those that do are again not listening.

This "victory" has again been brought about by enough Amercian's finally saying "I have had enough!"  The same way that they did last November.  Yet, the left STILL does not listen.

For the bunch of enlightened and intelligent folks you paint yourselves to be, y'all don't listen too well.

What does this have to do with the 2nd Amendment?  There is no such thing as freedom of speech at work.  You can be fired for saying something negative or for saying something that your boss does not agree with, or for saying something that makes your business lose money.  Which is exactly what is happening.

Now, if the nfl players want to take a knee on "their" time, that is ok.  When they are at home watching a game, take a knee.  When they hear the National Anthem played at a concert, take a knee.  This is their right.

Exactly right, if ticket sales and sponsorship in the NFL had gone up after Trump's tweets because folks disagreed with him, the NFL would never have moved an inch on this and would still be behind the players.

Money talks.

Tobie doesn't like this because it didn't support his narrative but he was in celebration mode when sponsors pulled their monies from the O'Reilly show.

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McnNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an easy and obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
