So as I'm writing this, the Huskers are getting drilled by Ohio State. The AD was fired a few weeks ago and it seemed at the time that Mike Riley's future was in doubt. I think tonight might be his last game in Lincoln, but recruiting will take a huge hit if he goes. Any thoughts on who might be in line for that job?

I would like to see that. It would seem like a no-brainer, but there's another guy out there that I like just as much: Matt Campbell at Iowa State. Both of those guys are really good young coaches...

Bahahahahahaha..

As much as I love to say I think Scott Frost but its not gonna happen. At-least not this year. Mike Riley will be there next year. Remember he is a Pac-12 guy. There is no real splash  hire we can get hats not named Saban or Urban. If Riley is out our Recruiting class takes a huge hit.

I really do not know who i want to come coach Neb.

Bill Moos has been hired away from Washington State and will start a week from tomorrow. All of the sudden, Mike Leach becomes a very real possibility...

Leach is one of my favorite coaches but he can be an acquired taste.  He’s more than a bit of a renegade and would be a tough fit at a lot of blue blood programs.   GCM would be better to comment on how he would fit in Lincoln.   I think he’d be a heckuva hire on many levels personally.

1.  While his offensive mind may be great / Its not triple option Football and Old School NEBRASKA fans wont want it.

2. Renegade he is. Husker Faithful other then the players HATED Pelini.

3. He was 5-0 ranked #8 and just got smoked by Cal.  They would be calling for his head lol.

So as you can tell he probably would not be a good fit.

Most if not all Husker faithful want a offense and defense build like Wisconsin who's AD has strong roots from guess where. Yea you got it Nebraska. A guy who could fit that coaching wise would be Craig Bohl. Not sure how his recruiting would be but he has husker ties as well.

I just don't see Nebraska coming back anytime soon. It's just where their at on the map

Define back. Alabama type run, or 9-10 win seasons. since 2008 we have had 9 or 10 win season 8 times. With a couple what happened there seasons.

Back to what they used to be as a powerhouse program

I agree with GCM. NU needs to find someone that will build a physical, bruising team on both sides of the ball. Wisconsin is a perfect template for that. I remember Paul Johnson being mentioned during the last couple of coaching searches. He's run the triple-option forever and has always had competitive teams, but he would need to rebuild the whole team to make it work. I'm not saying that he should be the guy, but there are a lot of Nebraska fans that would like to see someone bring an offense like that to Lincoln...

I thought the same thing when he said Wisconsin.  They have been consistently good, sometimes really good.  That is a great example and one Nebraska could follow.  I hope they do.  I’ve said it many times but they have some of the best fans in college football, if not the best.

As much as I would love to see some NU triple option, its just not what we need to bring us a Title. You see what happens when the other teams have more speed then an option team. to many guys to the ball to fast and we are shut down.

NU’s triple option didn’t exist.

They ran option plays from power formations. It pounded you with powerful tailbacks and QB’s scooting around the ends.

Runs by the fullbacks were called plays and not reads.

You need dominating OL to run this type offense.

I loved this offense, but it is just not seen anymore
