Was overwhelmed by the job but he might be the greatest ex-president we’ve had. I put the younger Bush in a similar category in terms of character and ilk. Carter has devoted his post-presidential time to charitable causes and even while battling cancer, showed up faithfully each week to teach his Sunday School class. I have to utmost respect for him as a human being. Englebert 1 Quote

I have to utmost respect for him as a human being. I agree that he was one of the most honest, sincere presidents we've ever had. Imo, his character is above reproach. On the downside, as president, well, overwhelmed is a nice way to say it. I'd even venture to say that his honesty created enemies on both sides of the isle, which may have impacted his performance. Trump, love him or hate him, is facing the same two party opposition. TxHoops 1 Quote
Englebert Posted October 23, 2017 Report Posted October 23, 2017 I think Jimmy Carter is the Rudy Ruettiger of presidents. The heart and will was in abundance, but was severely lacking on ability. One of the finest men to grace this Earth, one of the worst presidents to ever occupy the seat. TxHoops and Hagar 2 Quote
