Congrats, Tigers. You guys had a bumpy start but apparently got it together. 

Barnes is stupid fast. He makes it look easy. I left after halftime, but I liked what I did see.  By far the most disciplined group I’ve ever seen from the Tigers. 

I wish we had been a little healthier and made the contest a little more interesting.

Oh and Silsbee looked good the final three quarters. Such an up and down team but when they're on, they're real good. Defense played well after two huge breakdowns early.

Really feel for Bridge City and its injuries. Not sure any team's had it worse than them this year.

Question. Why are teams still punting to Barnes? The two punt return TD's gives him 5 for the season to go along with 2 kickoff returns for TD's.

Good question although the ones he returned were kicked well short of him,  he ran up and fielded them in traffic on the bounce.  And tried grab another similar to those except he was going back to the ball instead of taking it on the run and it resulted in a turnover.

That wasn’t our punter, for starters. Neither of the two punts Barnes re

turned back were supposed to reach him. The first one fell way short of Barnes, but nobody covered the ball or blocked him off of it. 

I was telling my Dad what would happen if we punted to him and, BAM!!!

If Silsbee can get consistent I think they got a real shot to meet Carthage in the R3 final. Btw you won't have to worry about Kalon getting his hands on the ball on special teams if that game happens. No way in hell Surratt kicks to him.

...and to the Silsbee fans I was sitting by that was hollering 'throw the ball downfield'.  Why?  You're getting like 7 yards a pop.  Why go away from the run?  also, they probably didn't notice the 7 mph North winds that would've carried any long pass away.  Power run game is working, young guns eating, big nastys doing work....don't go away from it.  2 years in and people still don't realize that this is a running team.  

 

Shout out to A. Thomas and Big Hageon doing great work in there on defense.
