West Rusk is big and athletic up front. Their QB can run or throw. It's really hard to judge a team when they have few opponents in common. But, I believe this will be a good game. Newton will need to throw the football and make some big plays. Which is what they do every week, as well as a great running game. Newton is well balanced. West is as well. Statistically speaking. Like said, it's difficult to judge without common opponents. They both played Arp. Newton won by a larger margin. West shouldn't be taken lightly. I'll be listening and rooting for the Eagles from Ohio.

It should be noted for the WR vs CC game, that CC drove the ball into WR territory but from what I've read that the turnover bug kept it from being closer than what it was.

i should probably look up recent history but i'm going to be lazy and ask you all

does newton have any state championships under their hat?

Can somebody fill me in on last 10-20 years of Newtons football history, how far they have went and who eliminated them on the runs they have made to State? It seems like Newton has fallen short several times, but was in all of those games closely.

should newton win state this year? they seem to be the favorite by most

Newton beat Spearman in state championship in 74 i believe 56-20

Beat Daingerfield 21-0 In 98 State Championship

Got beat by Boyd in 04 state championship 17-14 (on clock expiring)

Beat Argyle in 05 state championship 28-20

Got beat by Waskom 38-8 in state champion  i believe in 2014

 

Newton has always been a very good 2 round deep team. But in the last 5-7 years, they have been a good 3rd round to State semi team.

 

I believe Newton will win easily agains West Rusk and should not have a real fight until State Semi or State championship. 

 

As far as teams who have had their number. For years it was Marlin, especially in the early to mid 2000's. Then they struggled with Daingerfield. And as of late, Cameron You and Yokaum i believe have knocked them out late. Of course Franklin and Arp have most recently
