It may play a part, but a competent DC would allow less than 40 pts a game regardless of talent.

It's a good season regardless,  but yes, the jimmys and joes is an issue. Realistically,  3 to 4 rounds deep for most schools around here is the highest peak for them regardless of what the fan base thinks.  Just based on the overall talent pool of the schools imo.
