BMTSoulja1 Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 I'm glad the decision was made already. Now we can all move on. This new school will get my utmost support. I'm interested in how this all pans out... Academics, athletics, employment, student body, ect. AthleticSupporter - Jock, workbootz, DannyShapiroBE and 1 other 4 Quote
united we stand Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Ditto, should have stayed that way the first time. I will also give my full support to new school and wish all work out well. BMTSoulja1 1 Quote

Clueless Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 I'm glad for Beaumont. This should help the district in general. Hopefully they do it right and build a new school. Quote
Broncos2447 Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 I'm hearing they will get moved to the Ozen campus. Quote

OneChance Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Beaumont would have to pass a bond election for a new school, with Beaumont’s past history of bond issues, voters would probably be scared to vote for a new bond! Quote
Bulldogpower Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Gonna miss playing central in district, not sure if they feel that way but I always personally felt Central had a whole more in them and never got to see their full potential. Hopefully this fresh start will kickstart the program it should have always been. I’ll be following the new school next season for sure, they left on a painful memory though, spoiling DC number 6 for the Dogs lol bmt fans are probably on the edge of their seats awaiting the new change. Good luck to Central-Ozen in 6A BMTSoulja1 and Alpha Wolf 2 Quote
navydawg31 Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 I know my coworkers that are central and ozen alumni are very upset about it but they are being open minded about it. This is for the best for the district. No one likes change but this is a good change. Beaumont will succeed a lot better with just 2 Hs in the district. Best of Luck with the merger BMTSoulja1 1 Quote
PlayActionPass Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Overall, this is definitely the best decision for the entire town and for the kids as a whole. Now let the speculation begin, who coaches what? The BE articles says that all staff will be retained, but in what capacity? The BE article also says that there will be some duplicity, well lets see, 2 Head Football Coaches, 2 Head Basketball Coaches....... Quote
STiger85 Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 I was at the very first West Brook/Central football game at Lamar. Best one of them all. I also remember the West Brook band and the skit they put on. It's hard for me to say this is for the best, but it is. I was never a fan of three high schools in Beaumont because it seemed at one point in time one of the high school was the red headed step child and not all three where given the attention they needed. Will this new school be competitive not only in football and basketball but volleyball, baseball, softball, tennis, golf, ect. Will they bring in coaches to make all sports competitive. I am looking forward to the football game between the new school and West Brook. I wonder if the football stadium will be sold out and will they move it to Lamar. Maybe it will be moved to a Saturday game. A lot of questions, as far as sports, will be answered on realignment day. Quote

I've seen the Katy's, the PN-Gfs, the Nederland's, and the Pearland's, all historically bring huge crowds. Trust me, there's plenty of room and won't even have a need to use Provost Umphrey due to selling out... Quote

Unless of course they both are 9-0 with the game between the 2 being the last game in district. But they still are not using Umphrey. BMTSoulja1 1 Quote
WOSgrad Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 A thing to remember is that the Beaumont Bowl games being played at Lamar occurred before the Thomas Center was built. If you have a facility like that, there is no need to go to Provost-Umphrey. TexazBall, BMTSoulja1 and Alpha Wolf 3 Quote
STiger85 Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 I guess when you see a sign on the stadium that says “Max Capacity 10,500” and the stadium looks like it will hold more it makes you wonder. Quote

If you really want to make it a show, with maximum attendance, then you make it both schools home coming every year. You make it a total BISD homecoming even. Quote
Alpha Wolf Posted January 22, 2018 Report Posted January 22, 2018 Without having to look back through the pages, what day are the new districts supposed to be released? Quote
