"I wanted them to have a few days to enjoy spring break."PN-G opted to play two district games on Monday and Tuesday of this week.The Indians beat Vidor 1-0 and beat Central 11-0 in District 20-4A action."I think we have gotten better as a team with each game," Bates said. "I have intelligent players on this team that know how to find a way to get the ball in the net."PN-G will close out the district season next Tuesday against Nederland.The Indians travel to Nederland for a 5:30 p.m. game at Bulldog Stadium.The Indians hope to avenge their only district loss to Nederland. The Bulldogs beat PN-G in a shootout in their first district meeting.Nederland (19-1) is in first place in district play at 13-0. PN-G (15-1) is in second place at 12-1. Lumberton is in third place with a district record of 9-4."We are excited about the game," said Bates, whose team won a share of the district title last season. "Anytime we play Nederland it is an intense soccer match."In 20-4A boys standings, Central (17-0-2) is in first place with a 16-0 record. Lumberton (18-2) is in second place at 15-1. PN-G is in third place at 11-3-2.Central is coming off of a 4-3 victory over PN-G on Tuesday night. The Jaguars won 3-2 in a shootout. Harocio Cevallos scored the Jaguars clinching shootout goal.Lumberton beat West Orange-Stark 12-1 on Tuesday night to remain one game behind Central.Central and Lumberton are scheduled to play each other at 7 p.m. next Tuesday in the final district game of the season at the Raiders field. The Jaguars beat Lumberton 5-4 in the first district meeting.
