I’m seeing long distance away games for PAM. There’s not really any other D1 schools close to them.

Could be.   The UIL has shown that it doesn't have any problem with pairing it with Greater Houston schools and you already have New Caney, Caney Creek, Porter and K Park ready to go.

Don't forget about Baytown Lee.  They have  5A D2 numbers but the AD may have them play up with GCM

Doesn't matter.  Lee or GCM will not compete at this level in the forseeable future.

GCM is closer than you think. Played a ton of sophomores this year. Freshman teams were very competitive too.

This move will help them mentally, if nothing at all.

I agree although I'm biased. Freshman team lost to Kingwood by 1. Actually scored last second 2 point conversion only to be taken away. Lost to North Shore 32-26 when no one else kept them below 60. Beat Atascocita by a nice margin. Only head scratcher we had was a loss to CE King and we were the better team but lost on a last second 60 yard pass.  Everyone else we were the better team on the field.

Varsity record didn't show that they competed but they never quit. Like mentioned above. 5 Starters on offense were Sophomores and a couple on defense as well. 

Now granted dropping to 5A didn't all of a sudden make us better but it will give a moral boost to these kids. They will compete the next 2 years for sure.
