cats55 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Kirbyville has a good chance of going 2A. Enrollment was 406 the first day of school this year.
KFDM COOP Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I had heard that myself. Can you imagine Kirbyville in 2A?
Bobcatfan4life Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 The uil is a strange creature. Seems like nothing they do makes any sense, especially when it comes to realignment. But nobody can argue that that first year right after realignment is the most exciting because of all the new matchups and new rivalries that are born. With that being said, the most sense to me would be something like this.....22-4AOzenPNGNederlandVidorLumbertonLCMCentralBarbers Hill22-3AHamshire-FannettHardin-JeffersonLibertyClevelandTarkingtonSplendoraShepherdColdspring21-3ABridge CityOrangefieldWO-SJasperSilsbeeKirbyville2A and 1A would pretty much stay the same unless like mentioned before Kountze and Buna may move up. Then add them to 21-3A. Then 2A may be...24-2AAnahuacEast ChambersDeweyvilleHardinWarrenNewtonWoodville (may stay in the northern 2A district)Nobody knows what will happen, the only thing we can be sure of is that it will very interesting!!! Can you imagine if Kirbyville moved to 2A.
Guest Babs#4 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 wos is under 700 now.I believe WO-S is still well over 700 students.
Bobcatfan4life Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Here are the cutoff numbers from last realignment......2006-2007 & 2007-20085A: 1,985+4A: 950-1,9843A: 415-9492A: 195-4141A: 194 & under
KFDM COOP Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 And what people have to remember is most schools across Texas are growing and with new Schools being buildt the numbers on the cut offs will probably keep going up.
frosty Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 i think splendora might be moving up and i hear huffman might drop back down
Guest ECBucFan Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I had heard that myself. Can you imagine Kirbyville in 2A? KV vs. EC. Man that would be cool! I would love to see that! ;D
KFDM COOP Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Always interesting to see what the UIL does in February.
Guest ECBucFan Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Yep. Whatever you think they will do, they will do different.
Bobcat55 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I heard from a person who works at Buna that they have less than 400 kids now!
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Kinda funny Buna is dropping enrollment. hmmm.... ??? :-X
BobcatBacker Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 WOW, going by the cutoff numbers for the last redistricting, Orangefield and Kirbyville could combine and still compete in the same district !
HFHORNS Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 HJ needs to be in 22-3A. Why do you think HJ should move they have bigger enrollment numbers than OF, Kirbyville, and HF If anyone should be moved it should be one of them. It is difficult to compete against a school almost double your size.
Guest AISD Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Buna might stay 2a thanks to home town boy Charles Breithaupt I agree, deep down Buna did not deserve to be 3-A, that was not fair at all, Thanks to Charles Breithaupt without him helping us out, we have been stuck in 3A right now, think about this a 9 team district in 3ABridge CityBunaHamshire FannettJasperKirbyvilleOrangefieldSilsbeeSour Lake Hardin JeffersonWest Orange StarkCharles's save us, I rather see Buna in 2A vs Newton then to see Buna vs West Orange Stark in 3ABut im worried now because we get new students every year, who knows where Buna might go too, Right Now Buna is consider a 2A School
Cat22 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 I sure do wish Orangefield would drop to 2A, but I don't see that happening. We barely missed the cutoff last time, but I would guess our enrollment has increased since last realignment.
Coach 18 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Last enrollment figures had Buna just under 400. We are losing kids daily. No clue of where they are going, but we have lost around 150 kids in the last 6 years.
Champion Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 I would think that the Orange/Midcounty area schools would be growing with the new plants being built! I know in Silsbee there is not many houses for sale or rent so I dont see them growing anytime soon.
77 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 All the big plant expansions are in mid-county Orange county isnt growing at all I dont think.
tvc184 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 It doesn't matter where the plants are built. The workers will come from several counties to work in them.
Tiger90 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 It is a few years away but with the new hospital coming, new restaurants, and housing development on the hwy 96 bypass, Silsbee will start growing as will the Kountze area. Lumberton is running out of land for all of the housing and the growth is headed north. A few weeks back there was a national report that this area was going against the grain in regards to a real estate bust. The Beaumont area was #5-6 on the growth chart.
