It is a few years away but with the new hospital coming, new restaurants, and housing development on the hwy 96 bypass, Silsbee will start growing as will the Kountze area.  Lumberton is running out of land for all of the housing and the growth is headed north.  A few weeks back there was a national  report that this area was going against the grain in regards to a real estate bust.  The Beaumont area was #5-6 on the growth chart.

Lumberton running out of room?

Beaumont Colony begins the Kountze district on hwy 69.  Going south from there doesn't leave too much prime commercial land available.  Hwy 96 to village creek (Silsbee's district) is almost filled.  Unless I have missed a whole area, there is not much for any industry to start.  That is not to say they do not have a little room for growth on some of their subdivisions.  What is crazy is less than a decade ago all you pretty much had on hwy 69 from Kountze south was a couple gas stations and the Lumberton school.

Where's the love???? No Silsbee, Jasper, WOS, and K'ville.....all four of these teams bring great competition in all sports, boys and girls!

That's a pretty cushy district IMO! 4 of those are now 2A, 2 of those are fairly weak in most sports, 1 is OK, and 1 fairly good in most.......

Lumberton doesnt have much industry to start with...  I would like to see a poll on how many people that live in Lumberton actually work there.  They are still building like crazy in Lumberton and they are building more behind walmart...  Westwood still hasnt finished yet..

I like Silsbee, Jasper, Kville and WOS, they just destroy teams in District

If your point was to keep schools of similar size together for more even competition. Then a 6A classification might be more in order! This would even the numbers out a little more!

Im use of Silsbee being a 4A, I never seen them drop like that before

Even West Orange Stark, Im use of both of yall in that 4A 9 team District, Fighting for that Playoff Spot

But Im glad Silsbee and West Orange Stark are 3A, if you recall West Orange Stark had a 8-2 record but still did not make the playoffs

Some Controversial Call on that District,

Ozen vs PNG, if Ozen won that game then WOS would have made it to the playoffs

Why do you think HJ should move they have bigger enrollment numbers than OF, Kirbyville, and HF If anyone should be  moved it should be one of them.  It is difficult to compete against a school almost double your size.

Why? We've done it every year since '85. School size doesnt matter that much. I know of plenty 5A teams WOS could beat right now. When we were in 4A we still suited under 40 or less players each game.

    • I don’t know about any rivalry there because I don’t live there but although LP and DP play in different classifications they still have a lot in common.  I mean, both beat Barber’s Hill this year!
    • I’m super excited for this game.  PNG has the team and game plan that will slow TH down.  No way we can stop them the entire game, but I feel if we slow them down we can win similar to what we did last year to Lake Creek and SOC.
    • Well Mustang fans it's time for my annual end of season rant. I've had so much company up here on the soapbox that I may have to start charging rent. After 3 years I don't think anything needs to be said. We all know what's wrong. We all know why. So what's the decision at the next board meeting? IMO, there's been enough imaginary success for the board to rubber stamp the Superintendent's vision for our future student athletes. #make every second count Due to soft scheduling and a weaker than normal district. The luck of knocking off 2 ranked opponents early when they were not healthy or still trying to figure it out. Also led to a premature ranking and a hollow DCTF weekly award. The 2 late season losses vs ranked teams proves what we know has been the biggest problem.  Football 19-15 .559 Baseball 9-35 .205 Basketball 19-35 .352 GBB 11-29 .275 Softball 1-22 .043 Volleyball 0-38 .000 Overall 59-174 .253   For anyone living in the district, I ask that you contact you're elected board members publicly and privately. Don't let them think this is exceptable. Be the solution to the equation. Not the divisor. This starts at the top and falls heavily upon those walking the halls. They deserve better.
    • I don't think it's 6-5 maybe 4-3
    • Sounds like a good idea, and something’s been needed for a long time. I know—where my kids & grandkids live now (DFW area)—schools are like revolving doors for athletic purposes. I don’t think the DPISD & LPISD option enrollment are anywhere like that. I assume it’s pretty above board since it was an arrangement apparently agreed to also by the state. I do know some kids that went to LPISD elementary schools in DP chose to go to DPHS because of the district rating. (Of course, at the time, DPISD and DP in general wasn’t very racially mixed like La Porte.) LPISD has a high number of kids on assistance programs compared to DP. Say what you will, it does make it more difficult for educational purposes and scores can reflect as much. LPISD is still rated high even with that challenge. Some of the kids that chose DPHS were very solid athletes that I’m sure LP would love to have had attend LPHS. Of course, part of the big rivalry between DP & LP has always been because DP ‘looked down’ on LP even though we worked side-by-side. Now that Shell DP refinery has been sold to PEMEX, DP is changing. Some aren’t happy about it. Some of us in LP are kinda tickled about it after the history.
