I think the Head Coach has to nominate them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the AP sends a nomination form to all of the Head Coaches in the State, with a place to list Stats and accomplishments.

Newton players were nominated. Barlow made HM running back. That's also a joke.

im sure newton will rack up on the txsw all state team but for tam brown who i think is still leading the state in picks is a shame he isnt a 1st teamer . they have only given up over 20 points twice this year and have pitched 5 shut outs . i dont care what class your in your balling doing that . isnt newton averaging right at 50 points a game if not more ?

Corbin Foster was 1st team MLB last year, had a better year this year and didn't even make honorable mention.  They came up with 17 linebackers supposedly better than him.  What a joke the AP is.  Tam Brown is as good a defensive back or wide receiver as there is in 3A. He got robbed also.  I guess not playing in the 2nd half of most games hurt Barlow.

I think a lot of these All State / All Region type awards are mostly stat driven.  When a team has a good team and a lot of good players the wealth is shared... maybe that’s the problem.  The people that make these lists only have season stats to go on...for instance if Newton had 3 1500 yard rushers and some other team had a 2000 yard rusher...guess who might be more likely to be on the All State list.

Doesnt always matter who’s better just who had the better year on paper.
