Why have a parade? Your coming off winning two state championships. You didn’t win this year. Now if you win then go ahead.

That is the stupid thing I have ever heard and anybody that agrees with u is stupid to the made it to the state championship 4 years in a row 40 game winning and u show them no love or support because they lost in the last game that's bs and ur bs for saying what u said that front runners crap u make it to the end  win or lose something needs to be done

Then I am afraid you're really not going to like what I have to say as I happen to agree with aTmfan06.

That I don't think a parade is warranted does not mean that I am any less proud of those young men and what they were able to achieve.  However, a parade for a runner up position is extremely rare in sport and very unheard of these days.  No team at the major level does a parade when they lose a Super Bowl, a World Series or NBA Championship series.  And around here I have heard of no team that has put on a parade for a team that was the runner up at state.

In fact, a parade for being a runner up, in my eyes anyway, cheapens the accomplishment of a state title if you are going to hold a parade for every year that the team gets close.  Spin it anyway you want, but to hold a parade this year would be to celebrate a loss.  And I don't think that is something that either the young men or the coaching staff at West Orange-Stark wishes to do.

I could understand that if it was the first time in school history that such a level had been achieved.  But happily it is not.  They have been there before and the chances are better than average that they will be there again.  The fact that there wouldn't be a parade doesn't mean that we don't value what they have accomplished and certainly doesn't mean that we care any less for them than we would have if they would have beaten Pleasant Grove.  What is stupid is the implication by you that it would.

I agree with you. Everyone is already complaining by how many all district players they are and that 4 play off teams is a water down system. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great accomplishment to get that far but I agree the winner deserves the parade and for the Mustangs will be back next year.

No parades for second place. Why don’t we give them the MVP trophy too.....after all, one of them almost won it!

Well about 300 people dis agree with u guys  a parade is being worked out I'm not saying list have 20 mile parade just want to show our appreciation for the ride and as far as the professional rank u get 25 to 50,000 bouns for losing check per player I wouldn't care about a parade it doesn't compare dude

See the problem is everybody so use to  having a winner when they finally get knock off the mountain top it seems like their getting treated like failures. I know plenty of programs and schools that have not even done half of what wos has done and get dinner get invited to the court house etc for just coming in third let alone first or 2nd just seems sad

What if they would have lost in semifinals? Quarterfinals? Still give them a parade? Where is the line drawn?

I agree with the majority on here, GREAT accomplishment by the mustangs this year that 99% or the teams in our area did not even come close to doing, but some things should be reserved for the winner and the winner only.

I think you should decorate your car/truck and go down town and have your parade and invite anyone who wants to participate to join you. I want be there but that does not mean I don't appreciate the Mustangs and what they have accomplished. Go for it.

Now, if you do not have your parade does that mean you don't appreciate your Mustangs?

I guess I shouldn’t have taken the bait. But it’s just sad lol

Actually, it is one that should be tackled.  It is not just here that the idea is being floated.  I know there are a number on facebook that are pushing the already overstressed mayor pro tem of Orange to organize a parade.

I still don't get that a parade is mandated and that if it does not occur that the Mustangs' efforts this year are unappreciated.  I can tell you that folks will ride or die with the Mustangs whether they win the mythical national championship or whether they go 0-10.  Anybody who implies otherwise simply just does not get that.

No one should insist on a parade. The city and community can show appreciation for WO-S in other ways, but a parade is an honor reserved for WINNING the championship.

Ok but nothing at all is being done. Like i said it feels like they r  being treated like failures im telling you when BAMA lost to Clemson last year in the chip they flew in to Birmingham not Tuscaloosa which is about 70 miles away fans drove that 70 miles to the airport cheering like won thanking them for the ride I haven't seen anything like that here

why didn't your group meet the busses at the school and let them know how proud y'all were?

there is a difference in meeting retuning players and organizing a parade later

Nah, don’t be sensitive man. Can you atleast get your 300 people on here to tell us we are wrong? I mean you are the one that started the thread and just because we don’t see it your way your getting upset. If you can not listhen to someone’s  opinion maybe this site isn’t for you. Also if you really want the parade how about seeing if can you can get a permit from the city like a (block party) and fund it for the kids.

Well I for one agree that a parade is reserved for when you win state, but even so come on man give it some time. I mean all the students, players, coaches etc are all out on Christmas break and probably hard to get ahold of much less gathered together for a parade. Plus a parade requires city permits, police escorts, time to get floats decorated etc...last two years it was mid to late  January before we had a parade.
