Right Call?

Team A is behind two points. Team A player gets fouled shooting a three about a second left on clock. Buzzer sounds after the foul. Refs huddle to discuss and then exits the court.

Was the whistle before or after the buzzer? Time should be placed back on the clock (usually 3 tenths of a seconds) and the free throw administered.

Time should have been put back on the clock, unless there was something else factoring into the situation.

Saw a similar thing happen.  Perhaps you can help me understand the call.  First, clock not a factor.  Team A player shoots a three, which he makes.  After he shoots, a foul (or 3 sec violation) is called on another Team A player.  Shot was not allowed.  Many fans of Team A said the foul whistle was after ball went thru basket (I can only say it was very close).  So, if the whistle was after ball cleared hoop, it's good?  But whistle prior to that no-good?  Seems weird I've never seen this happen before.  Guess it doesn't come up often.

You are correct. Basket should have counted, if the foul occurred after the ball went through the net completely.

I think I know the play of which he speaks.  Foul definitely occurred, and I believe so did the whistle, while the ball was in the air.  Specifically, kid shoots a three, offensive player gets whistled for an offensive foul while jockeying for position with the ball on the way to the basket.

I'd prefer an unbiased opinion :)

Actually, the conundrum I was in, since a bunch of fans were hollering at the Refs, I wanted to holler but didn't know enough to get that little bit of joy lol

This particular play I saw develop a possession or two before.  The kid who was whistled is a physical kid who has a tendency to get locked up with opponents.  The refs missed one running down the court the previous possession drawing the ire of Team B’s fans.  When he grabbed an opponent high and pulled back on the play in question, he got caught at most inopportune time, considering it took 3 points off the board.

I guess I'm to blind and slow to see all that stuff.  I'm usually one pass behind, much less seeing things like that.  Again, thanks for the clarification.
