McKenzie walked on at UT-

It’s a Texas Longhorn record: Jake McKenzie played all nine positions tonight, and did it in seven innings. McKenzie closed it out on the mound as Texas defeats UT Rio Grande Valley in seven innings, 13-2.

His GPA is probably the most impressive thing in this tweet.  The kid has a bright future.

Scheduling these games is stupid....Maybe it will rain out

According to Warren Nolan, a win against PVAMU will cost the Aggies 42 RPI points and a loss will cost the Aggies 42 RPI points; talk about a lose-lose situation.

There’s something to be said for helping out a school your own system by throwing them a bone with a game.  Great experience for the PV kids who I’m sure rarely, if ever, experience an atmosphere like that.  It is really stupid that a school would lose that many points with a win though.  I would think that the RPI with any baseball team that does well in the SEC shouldn’t be an issue though.

Sam Houston beats Cougar High 8-7.

Claim the Don Sanders Cup. Not sure when that started.

You beat me to it.

Conference record: 18-3

Overall record: 32-13

The Don Sanders Cup started in 2017.  The two teams play a 3 game series throughout the season.  1 game in Huntsville, 1 in houston and 1 at Sugar Land's Constellation Field.  The winner wins the Cup.    Here's a little information about the series.

Don Sanders Cup winner:

2017-SHSU (3 games to 0)

2018-SHSU (2 games to 1)

Sam Houston State baseball and the University of Houston will play three games against one another, competing for the inaugural Don Sanders Cup beginning during the 2017 season.

Sanders, a Houston philanthropist and Sam Houston alumnus who has made contributions to both universities, is the namesake of the Bearkat baseball home, Don Sanders Stadium, and donated $1 million to establish an endowment fund to enhance the baseball program.

Sanders is founder and chairman of the investment firm Sanders Morris Harris. He is a former owner of the Houston Sports Association and the Houston Astros Baseball Club and currently, along with Nolan Ryan, is co-owner of Ryan-Sanders Baseball. Ryan-Sanders Baseball owns the Texas Rangers' Class AAA Round Rock Express and the Astros' Class AA Corpus Christi Hooks.

Sanders is a leading figure in Houston in a variety of civic, corporate and financial enterprises. He was the founder and chairman of the Houston Police Foundation and was a member of the University of Houston System Board of Regents and Houston Police Pension System.

Texas with a big win on the road at Tech.  If they can win another one and take the series, they will be on the shortlist to host.

Not Shug’s bear outing.  Would have been a mercy rule game.  Tech wins 16-5.

Why yes. Yes someone is very happy.

Your buddy Todd with some RPI gamesmanship tonight canceling their home game vs #250 SFA due to “A high number of academic conflicts brought on by finals week.”

What a crock.  I don’t think I’ve ever heard Cougar High and academic mentioned in the same sentence
