That’s pretty much what seals it for me.  I also would be in favor of enhancements on regular sentencing for illegals.  They should have stiffer sentences imo.

There needs to be stiffer punishments for those caught here illegally. Instead of sending them back, for them to return in a few months. I would be in favor of 1 year in jail for first offenders, with the sentence doubling after each unlawful re-entry.

You can build a wall 40 stories high, and just as deep then deport every illegal alien in existence and there would still be problems in this country with drunk driving and alcoholism.   There are probably a few alcoholics that post to this portion of the message board. Alcohol is big business.  You can't watch a big tv event, especially sports, without seeing some advertisement for some liquor, be it beer or hard ale or whatever.  Drunk drivers come in all shapes, sizes, age groups and colors.  People drink when somebody dies, drink when somebody gets married.  They drink when they are happy.  They drink when they are sad.  They drink when they gamble at the casino.  They have a glass of wine with dinner after Sunday services.    All those drunks are not illegal aliens.

And what gives with deporting that guy in Kansas?  The guy was a pillar of his community.  Had earned at least a masters, or perhaps a Phd in Chemistry.  He was teaching chemistry at the college level, raising his family, taking care of  his wife and three children and the border officers or ice catch him on  his front lawn and deport him.  Those are the types of people you should want to stay.  I don't know what kind of evil that is.  Is it racism?  Hyper jingoistic xenophobia?  Or some type of combination of the two?   Whatever it is it is jacked up.

You see a drunk that killed an athlete. I see an Illegal who killed an American. Like I said, a life taken by an illegal is a life that should have been saved. This situation has nothing to do with the booze. It is just another example of people who should not be hear, legally not suppose to be here, killing Americans.

Is anyone trying to claim that all drunk drivers are illegals? Is anyone trying to claim that deporting illegals would solve all of our problems? You seem to be claiming that people think this way by the wording of your post. If you don't really believe people are claiming this, then your post is a big "well duh" that Captain Obvious would be embarrassed about. If you do believe it, call out some of these people.

My wife works at the Federal Prison in Medical.  A good percentage of their inmates are illegals.  I can’t find the figures for Beaumont, but I would assume they are higher that the national avg with our proximity to Mexico.

Over 20% of Federal Inmates in this country are illegals.  I would also assume the State Prisons percentage would be equal or more.  We have to keep them from coming here before we grant anyone amnesty.

I haven’t read a lot about this specific case but I was wondering if there is more to the story?

My first step to Amnesty would be to grant legal status(I’m still deciding on path to citizenship) to all of the productive, self sustaining immigrants.  If you are in the country, not causing trouble, not on welfare, working and providing for your family then I have no problem with them staying.  Most countries have this same policy.  We want the best and brightest from other countries, not thugs and rejects that we have to pay to keep imprisoned.

    • That should tell everyone something pretty clearly. Does anyone really think BH is recruiting elementary kids, to get them to transfer in Jr. high? Seriously? Here is the "dirty little secret" about BH: Most people move to the district for a quality living environment to raise their young family, and benefit from the outstanding acedemics at BH. Even If all athlectics suddenly disappeared from BH, people would still want their kids in the district. If thats not enough to convince anyone, and BH really was determined to recruit, first step would be to have open enrollemnt. It is closed.        Yes, I get it, no one ever wants to give BH the benefit of the doubt on anything. Some of the accusations are beyond ridiculous though. This paranoia the BH critics are afflicted with is not just sad, its flat out laughable.
    • Opting is always an option. Are they considering any BC assistants? Highly qualified after that season they put up.
    • Be that as it may, only time will tell. Hide and watch. Don’t be surprised if the next HC hire uses his own recipe. That happens more than not historically. I am not arguing the point that Hooks & CT had a winning combination that could’ve been carried over. I’m saying that finding someone to do that is not going to be as easy as one might think. Tell me again why Saban’s replacement, who even has Saban’s assistance if he wants it, just lost another game to an unranked team and has taken the Tide out of playoff contention? Why wouldn’t he just follow the success of possibly the greatest college football coach ever lived?
    • We've acknowledged having 2 HOF coaches hasn't been like most other schools. So why everyone jumps to the conclusion it wouldn't work here is beyond my comprehension. I see it carry over with these other hires. Gilmer, Aledo, North Shore, Austin Westlake. Next man up that continues the system in place has instant success. Matter fact there was 2 rookie HC that won the state championship the same year we handed over the keys. Same book. Same recipe. Better ingredients.
