Might be the dumbest thing I've read.

How many players is Crosby, with their new facilities, sending to college for free every year? 3? 4?

Stop pretending that winning a playoff game or two puts you in some sort of elite company.

Not defending his comment above but no scouts are going to the Sterling Game to watch sterling players. The two times you probably had scouts watching yall last year you got destroyed by Atascocita and North Shore.

Crosby will have scouts at the Manvel game, at the PNG game, at the Angleton Game and if they move deeper into the playoffs in the playoffs. They could also realistically win 2 of those games and the kids would be showcased.

So no winning a playoff game or two doesn't, pulling high-quality preseason opponents and playing against D1 kids in games you have a chance to win is the quickest way to increase your profile.

Case in point. Hill has 0 offers and was selected All State RB 6A for the body of work he did against everyone else not named North Shore and Atascocita.

I dont for see  anyone in this district have 2 defenses like that. But what will he do against Manvel, and Angleton? He already ran through PNG defense last year for 190 on a BAD 1 man offense.

That was the other option presented to us at the forums. Rezone the 3 schools to to each have the same number of kids. Which would put them all 3 in 5A.  Guess we will see in 2 years lol.

Does GCCISD allow students at Hyland, Impact and Stuart campuses to participate in UIL events?

If they do count, then (according to UIL #s) the total number of students in GCCISD would be 6,809.  If you divide 6,809 by 3 campuses, the average would be 2,269.67.  The current cutoff for 6A is 2,190.

If they do not count, the total students would be 5,465 and the average would be 1,821.67.

Please make sure before Lee HS is in 6A.

I believe those 3 schools mentioned above compete in UIL events. There for they did not count against the RSS,GCM or REL numbers. Where as the past 2 years those kids counted against the school they would have attended.

Is mega school actually dead? I thought I read that the board is assigning a committee to study it and bring info back to the board later in the year, but for now they are rezoning because they feel they have to do something.

For now it appears to be. They chose to rezone. this go around. So the next realignment should have 3 5A schools in Baytown.

+1. On serious note, I believe Goose Creek ISD is well over 60% Hispanic. That spells disaster for football programs.

    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
