bh89-2 Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 OK folks.....if you want a 10lb plus bass, now through late April is the time.Choke Canyon Report 3-15 to 3-18Everyone in my party of 11 (3 boats and 4 kids) had limits, every day. Everyone caught at least 1 fish over 7 lbs (kid's zebco 33's got a work-out). My best 1-day 5 fish limit was 48 plus pounds (biggest personal limit). In 3 days I had 3 fish over 11lbs, 3 fish over 10 and 4 over 8. We had a lot of 5-7 lb fish...I mean a lot. Tons of 3-5 lb fish. Crazy fishing to say the least and we never fished past 12:30. NO, the fish are not on beds.....all BIG fish were in 12 to 20 feet of water (staging on drop-offs and creek channels). All but 1 BIG fish caught on watermelon-red senkos with a short carolina-rig. Fishing edge of grasslines and structure. Suggested Areas to Fish1) 4-fingers rock ledge area2) Island on left side of dam at mouth of creek.3) Dam - left side bouy's 1-4 from dam. 2-4 always good for #'s and occasional big fish.Trick to Choke is make sure the South East wind is present and there is not a high pressure system over the lake. A North wind will shut-down the Florida Bass.If you want to drag a boat to one of the South Texas lakes and need some tips, just PM me. I'll be glad to look over a map with you or provide some info. Flacon and Amistad are also HOT right now.
