Coming off their first World Series title, the Stros look to be even stronger than last year. Gonna be a fun season to watch. First spring training game is this Friday vs. Washington. Forrest Whitley starts the season on a 50 game suspension.

Got tickets for opening weekend, April 7, my birthday vs. the Padres. Section 128, row 30, seats 1 & 2. Staying at Hampton Inn right across the street from Minute Maid, Friday and Saturday night. Would like to see Verlander pitch but he pitches opening day on Tuesday before. Not a problem. Might get McCullers.

Man, did I screw that up. Opening day is March 29th. Maybe Verlander will be up after all.

Astros extend Jose Altuve for 5 years/150 million. I like that it is only 5 years compared to 8 or 10 so that he will be under 35 for the duration of the deal.

Verlander on the bump as the Astros start their title defense in Arlington Thursday afternoon. Gonna be another fun year of baseball. Kyle Tucker was phenomenal in spring training, I wonder if he will be called up at some point.

He will probably be a "Post-June 1st Call Up. If they call him up before then he gets credit with a year of service and can be free agent eligible one year earlier. I would imagine they wait and call him up after that date to have control over him for an extra year.

Yeah it is kinda crappy from a player perspective, but is a smart business move from a business perspective.

It’s Opening Day!  The 2:30 start on the road for the Champs is pretty brutal.  I’m trying to clear my schedule now.

I was out at the Houston Open but kept up with the score. Seemed like they picked up right where they left off.

Altuve and Correa destroyed the Rangers with 4 hits apiece. Throw in another Marisnick homer and McCann's speed on the base paths, Gonzales' double off the wall, Springer's double, a sac fly, Astros score 9. McCullers pitched a gem. All this adds up to a huge win against a division opponent. Keep it up guys.

Cole with a fantastic outing. Besides the one mistake for a HR, he pitched a 2 hitter in his first start as an Astro.

I'll take 3 of 4 from the Rangers any day. 

Not a weak spot in that Astros lineup.

There are 29 teams who would kill to have Cole as the #4 starter, and there are 29 teams who would kill to have Morton as the #5 starter.

This rotation might be better than the offense.
