Dallas Cowboys 2018

From Mayock's conference call on Leighton Vander Esch:
"He wears that neck brace for a reason. He's got a cervical issue, and teams around the league right now are having the conversation about how bad or good is it really and at what level should we draft him?"

Dallas is great at getting their "true fans" to buy into every pick they make, especially in the top of the draft. I try not to hate, but, Dak Prescott's top target as of now is Allen Hurns. Let that sink in. If Witten retires, god help him. I know, I know Cowboy fan..Van whatever is going to be an absolute stud next to the all-reliable Sean Lee. And yes, I am sure, his red flagged injury status will not come into play.

Having Allen Hurns as the top target is no difference than having Dez Bryant as the top target.  I'm actually glad they didn't draft a WR in the 1st round. I really feel the COWBOYS draft a WR with their 2nd pick.  They are high on the guy from SMU.   Then probably find a TE with the 3rd or 4th.

The more I read about Michael Gallup the happier I am with passing on Ridley in Round 1.  He was ranked by some as the 49th best player and #3 overall receiver.  Not bad to get him with pick #81.  His highlight tape looks very good.  Hopefully he can step in for Dez on day 1

The COWBOYS wanted to draft Gallup in the 2nd but the people in the war room kept saying, "remember atlanta last year."  Sounds like the COWBOYS are determined to prevent another 10 sack game if a starting OL goes down.  From what I've read, Connor Williams can play all 5 OL positions.  Then to make it even better, Gallup was still there in round 3.

Our first round pick van reminds me a lot like the year we drafted Travis Frederick everyone was upset about it and now look at him. I don’t hear any complaints about it. I trust the scouting report and believe he will be great on defense.

Connor Williams pick is huge. Our running game is better now with him. And he can play all 5 positions if need be. But we got a top 10 pick in the second round. Steal in my book.

Gallup has pretty good speed, 4.55 40yd time. and smarts, good route runner, the only thing he lacks is strength they need him in the weight room lifting weights big time.

Bo is going to be a bruiser at RB enough said.

Dez has his shortcomings, but if he ends up with a good qb somewhere he’ll be good again.  Dak killed his career in Dallas.  For Dez to be Dez he needs a qb that can be at least semi-accurate farther than 12 yds down the field

hardly.  He was going downhill even with Romo there.

Nope.  In 2014, the last year Romo was healthy, Dez had 1320 yds and 16 TDs.  In 2015 Romo only played 4 games.  Dez got hurt in the first game of the season, and only played a single game with Romo that season.  He came back mid-year and had Cassel, Weeden, and Moore throwing to him.   In 2016, Romo got hurt in game one.

So to be clear, Dez was “going downhill” with Romo by having a career high in touchdowns and the 2nd most receptions in a season he’d had in his career during Romo’s final healthy season as a cowboy.

To put it in perspective:

Dez’ final season with healthy Romo- 88 catches, 16 TD, 1320 yds

Dez in two full seasons with Dak- 119 catches, 14 TD, 1634 yds.

Dak sucks throwing the ball down the field.  Period.  If Dez gets someone who can do that he’ll be good again.

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
