Lazeek Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Got this info from another website and they got it from the Texas State University System Minutes, These Facilities have been approved if I read correctly. Facility Amount DateSoftball Field $1.2m 2009Field house, (soccer, softball, baseball) $3.5m 2009Cardinal Stadium Renovation $6.5m 2009Higgens Field house Renovation $3.6m 2009Vincient Beck Synthetic turf $0.95m 2009Vincient Beck Renovation $5.0m 2012 You can look for yourself at http://www.tsus.edu/regents/minutes/Regular%202007%20Feb.pdfon about page 17. So this obviously means the return of football (& Softball) to Lamar...To bad for either men's tennis or track!!!
Cat22 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Hey Lazeek, that link did not work so I fixed it.This is big news. I guess that does mean football will be coming back. Where do I call for season tickets!!!!
KFDM COOP Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 How about Football???? Oh that's right don't get me started!! >
Bobcatfan4life Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Coop, look at the renovations list again......
Bobcatfan4life Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Are those the dates that this stuff is supposed to be completed?
AstrosDawg07 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Where will the turf go at Vincent Beck? The enitre field? And what about the Montagne Center?
Lazeek Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 Where will the turf go at Vincent Beck? The enitre field? And what about the Montagne Center? The interior of the Mongane is fine, but could use a bit of refinishing on the outside
DenisGScott Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 rather see LU move their home basketball games to Ford Park, the Montage is 20 years old and really out of date, do they really get that many students out there? Plus FP being an off campus facility couldnt they then sell beer and improve revenues???
Lazeek Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 There would be no students at a off campus arena
DenisGScott Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 how many students really do attend??? as I recall LU still drew well from the students when they played at the Civic Center
AshlyHasBeen Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 FieldTurf for the entire field, Coach G has talked about this for a couple of years. If they do improve the Montagne I wish they would brick the outside so it would match the school, same for the football field. Why would you have a white building in SE Texas especially next to a battery acid plant...
Lazeek Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 how many students really do attend??? as I recall LU still drew well from the students when they played at the Civic Centerthat was when they were really good though
DenisGScott Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 which would pump more money in...student tickets or alcohol sales??
Lazeek Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 It is not about the money.....it is about student life.........which happend to be non-exixtent at LU hoop games
JohnnyT60 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The montagne center is fine, and a better facility than ford park. Plus, it doesn't take you 2 hours to get out of the MC parking lot.
Gtj007 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The Montagne Center is GREAT!!! WAY better for basketball than Ford Park!!! It is one of the best basketball venues in the state of texas!!! Really!!!! How is it "out of date"????????
DenisGScott Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 its 20+ years old thats how its out of date, no video board on the scoreboard for replays, it sits next to a battery acid plant and face it it's not in the best area of town.
JohnnyT60 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 its 20+ years old thats how its out of date, no video board on the scoreboard for replays, it sits next to a battery acid plant and face it it's not in the best area of town. It is 20 years old and one of the best BB facilities in the State. As far as being next to a plant, I see that as a non-issue. The neighborhood is the same one the University is in, so again, irrellevant. I can see by the picture you are a FP homer, but I really don't think it is a very good facility. Now as far as upgrading the MC with a better scoreboard, and other amenities, now that is a good idea. Why pay to use a facility, that is not as good as the one you own?
Guest WBFan09 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 so you get a new scoarboard and you brick the outside...other than that it just needs touch ups here and there like new seat covers and things like that
AstrosDawg07 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 so you get a new scoarboard and you brick the outside...other than that it just needs touch ups here and there like new seat covers and things like thatYa at one time they were talking about put in black seats, that would look good...And yes they do need to get a video board....
AstrosDawg07 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Hey Lazeek, that link did not work so I fixed it.This is big news. I guess that does mean football will be coming back. Where do I call for season tickets!!!!Improvement for Cardinal Stadium could be for soccer...But if they do bring back football w/ soccer, they really should invest in getting field turf there as well...
Lazeek Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 Scoreboard without a question needs to be replaced!!!!! That has been there since the day teh Montagne opened!!!! They even use the same ol lame sayings on there that they used 20 years ago.
DP#1FAN Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Glad to hear about the improvements. Just wish it would start sooner.
Tiger90 Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 While we can't really do anything about the location, the Montagne is really one of the best in the SLC. I do wonder about the location of the football stadium however, not much atmosphere there but where else could it be. So if these renovations are to be completed by 2009 you would have to assume football will be announced by next spring. A coaching staff must be selected and a year to recruit must occur to be even remotely be successful. Big time universities are sending letters to juniors in high school.
