If you are a baseball first school you should have something to back it up just like Silsbee does as a basketball school and same for Hj and Kountze.

when is the last time BC went to state in baseball? Heck, have they even made a regional final since 2006?

What Im getting at here is that the head football /AD should have full support and should not play second fiddle to any other sport. Good luck to BC and hope they get a good one

I think at 26 (or 27, I dunno) DCs, it’s pretty obvious we have a consistently good baseball program. It’s also fairly obvious that we’ve had some pretty rotten luck in the playoffs... coinflips that led to single game series in which we came up short against a team that we were favored over, questionable calls like last year, etc, etc... but we don’t have the hardware that counts. It’s safe to say that we should have already cashed in at some point.... that’s something we have to push past.

We do have that football sc, though.... not bad for a baseball school to fall back on. I don’t know if there’s a more depressing, former championship-level football program in the state, though.

Not to butt in... but that could also be a good argument that it's a fairly weak district year in and year out...other than an obviously consistently good baseball program.  Don't get me wrong.. district championship is goal number one and you can't help who the UIL puts you with but a statement like "pretty rotten luck in the playoffs" is sounding kind of like an excuse to me.  Teams that always win district but don't do anything in the playoffs seem to be just lucky to be in that district.  JMO

Weak district. I believe 2 years ago LCM, WOS, Bridge City and Silsbee were  sweeping other districts and we had to end up playing each other in the playoffs. LCM was the 4th seed in that district and ended region finalist and lost to  a tough Waco Robinson team. Year before that WOS lost in the state championship game to Argyle. I believe we are competitive district.

I agree completely, and I think I went on to say that despite having "pretty rotten luck in the playoffs," we should definitely cashed in at some point... that's on us.  The goal is to win the DC first, then move on to the SC... and we haven't gotten it done.  Our district is typically pretty nasty on the statewide level.  This year maybe not so much.

I didn’t say it was a weak district.. I said that based on that statement an argument could be made that it’s the case.  Calm down lol..

I would say the District is solid and consistent and occasionally has the fire power to make a deep run, whether it be BC, WOS, Silsbee or LCM.

Any news on the Football applicant list?

I haven’t heard anything. I have a bad feeling we won’t recognize any of the names on the list when it comes out, anyways.

Maybe B. Barbay will apply if you can get him to leave Jasper

Speaking of baseball.  The channel 6 sports lady, just had Coach Dubose on to talk about BC Baseball?  Did anyone else feel weird about that?  Chad Landry is the best baseball coach in the area and he is the reason BC continues to be so good in the sport.  But the former head football coach that just bolted because he said that he prayed about going back to HJ is the one on TV to talk about the current playoff run?

Speaking of the move.  In the first run at HJ, Dubose had arguably the most talented team HJ has had in many years and he won with them.  When the talent pool dried up in Sour Lake, he left for BC where he inherited the best talent that BC has had in several years and won with them.  Then, without that above average talent Coach Dubose and the Cardinals suffered through a sub-par season?  So is it now that HJ has some good talent again and Coach Dubose is going back to coach those good ones?   Is that what he meant when he said he prayed about the move?  Some divine intervention about the best stocked talent for him to coach?

I heard some talk the other day that Coach Stump is the only coach to have ever been to the playoffs four times at BC?  Where is he now?  Is he coming back to BC?

All very good points.  I just think that he was not happy with some outcomes in BC and was approached about coming back to HJ.  The talent here isn't anything close to what it was when he left but we would like to believe he will do the best he can by the kids!

Coach Carter at png has the 2017 5A  state championship ring, takes png to playoffs every year, has over 500 wins & a couple other state titles i believe?I'm not exactly caught up on bc's hardware, but Mr.Carter might be at least tied with the bc coach as best in the area?

I agree with you. When he said Landry was the best coach in the area I kind of shook my head.   Coach Griff has way over 500 wins and probably knocking on 600. He’s brought the Bears to a state title game where we lost and we have made deep runs.

If you watched the interview it was more about what his plans in HJ are. The Dubois family just found themselves in a weird spot last week with the events of the past few weeks. Even as much as coaches move around these days, you don't see something like that playing out very often. When Coach Dubois was here in BC, he was one of the most supportive AD's and Head FB coaches for not only baseball but all other sports in BC that the school district has ever seen. The notion that BC baseball or Coach Landry pushed Coach Dubois out are simply absurd. It is very likely that BC baseball and softball facilities will see upgrades over the summer in large part due to Coach Dubois wanting better for the kids here in BC.

As far a football in BC, BC had a ton of key injuries to this years team. Even despite that they played a back and forth game against LCM before losing another key RB late in the game due to injury. Had they been healthy I really believe they would have been right in the playoff hunt if not in the hunt for a DC. It's not like there were any great teams in last years football district.

The real proof will be if we hire a HC/AD or just a HC....

I fully expect a BC baseball man to be the next AD.

Especially if guys like this continue to get their way.
