Baytown Sterling is Open

Is everyone assuming that there was just a large pool of choices for this job?  Coaches that are proven winners would never consider a job like this unless it’s literally the dead end of their career and money was the only driving force.

Amd for the record I’d bet that the OC at Austin Lake Travis would rather stay than become a HC at Sterling...lol.  Hopefully that was a joke.

You mean like Aduddell that the AD hired in 13? Dick Olin was rumored to want the job...Atleast he proved he could win in Baytown. Instead we let Aduddell come in and get his 3 years salary bump and then skate over to DP to be an asst to ride out his career. Ol Troy took a group of kids that had lost only 1 game since they were in the 3rd grade and turned them into a option team lol. Nice job Mr. AD and ever since then its been one cluster after another at the other schools and in other sports.

Ah thats right, Good Ol Boy Gooden hired his buddy. Same theory regardless, come to GCCISD and get that pension up boys!

The Good Ol' Boys system doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. I know a few young coaches who desire to be head coaches in Baytown for the long haul. A couple of them started there and left. But it just seems like it's the same system all over Houston area.

Houston area schools typically hire guys within their region of Houston. Katy schools pull from other Katy schools for the most part. Similar in the South Belt area, they try to pull from Pearland and Dawson.

Was interesting to see Baytown Sterling go with Toomer and Grand Oaks go with Jackson. There’s always an exemption to the unspoken rule...
