KABrother Posted May 18, 2018 Report Posted May 18, 2018 Nederland’s DC Delbert Spell is calling it a career after 45 years. Enjoy a well earned retirement. Quote
navydawg31 Posted May 18, 2018 Report Posted May 18, 2018 Wow tough tough loss for the Dogs. He could call some defense, his game plans were always scrappy just like most of defenses he coached. Enjoy your retirement coach! I wonder who will replace him? Outside hire or someone current on the staff? Quote

purpleeagle Posted May 18, 2018 Report Posted May 18, 2018 Best of luck coach Spell, wishing you a healthy retirement. Wow, 45 years, you obviously have touched many lives. I repeat a saying,' what you do for yourself will pass away but what you do for others will live on'. Quote

navydawg31 Posted May 18, 2018 Report Posted May 18, 2018 Good for Chris. He has his great supporting staff on the team and his dad always to lean to and to help him. Now there is a certain coach at the middle school ranks to bring up to the varsity level to replace Chris’s position. Quote
The Icon Posted May 18, 2018 Report Posted May 18, 2018 Coach Spell is a stud, hats off to him. Enjoy retirement, cosch. KF89 1 Quote
Brubaker Posted May 19, 2018 Report Posted May 19, 2018 Nederland had some dominant defenses over the years. 45 years as a coach in the same district is pretty impressive. Congrats. Quote

It’s not fair to English especially the way he has turned the program around with his tenure being there. It’s time to reward him and give the man the help he deserves and the tools to reach the next level. Quote

3n2 Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 Coach Spell is a great man and will be missed on and off the field. He is a man of great character and integrity he did it the Buldog Way,. One of the best Men I have ever been around. He and his wife raised, amazing kids, two of which are educators. There will never be another like him, they broke that mold. Enjoy retirement Coach and know that you have impacted so many players and coaches in a positive way. Quote
