Cougtalk
One game can make the difference between PNG playing at home against Houston Sharpstown or away against Fort Bend Marshall. Home field advantage and FB - Marshall, Manvel waiting in the first round makes this season that much better. Being 3rd is a death sentence this year. Then Crosby should definitely make sure to win em all since y’all LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE first round exits! I know y’alls defense doesn’t get the negativity that png defense does but as bad as png d was, y’alls d had the unique ability of making people look superhuman. One kid. Not a qb, rb, and wr combo like you guys had that will all be playing ball in college. One kid. Watch out for Nederland too. They will wet the field and outcoach you to death. I hope Barbers hill beats y’all too. That’s just me though.

I think PNG’s band is still playing at Stallworth! prepballfan, CAL2TEX, RoschonsBigBro and 2 others

Ned will be undergoing a coaching change. I am sure the new staff will be great but there will be an inevitible adjustment period. Wet field? Any team should be able to deal with it. Heck, back in the day we used to even play in the rain. I know thats unthinkable today, LOL.

However, when the field is reduced to a mud- pit prior to the game, intentionally or not, after days of no rain, the team who is practicing on the wet field, (a field that should in no way be wet & muddy), has the definite advantage, until adjustments are made by the visiting team. I wish to make clear that that is why it's called home field advantage. In the late 60s, early 70s, visiting teams called Indian Stadium the "Cow Pasture" because the grass was kept long to slow down the team that had not practiced in that environment. You must learn, as a visiting team to overcome & adapt.

chorizo
Well in all honesty it wouldn’t be an advantage to Nederland because they practice at the high school not the stadium.
navydawg31
Bulldog stadium host what 3 or 4 games every Tuesday for middle school ball. Then if varsity is away that’s another 3 games. So a total of 7 games on one field is a lot of traffic. Then if varsity is home that week it’s 4 to 5 games that week. Come the final games of the season plus all the rain we have every year the field is used and abused. Which I still don’t know why Bulldog stadium is open to the general public. You can pass by there any giving night and there is about 20-30 people on the track and about 20-30 more on the field tearing it up making holes, setting up poles and other objects for drills I have seen countless amount of times. And no one there to stop them. Time to close the stadium to the public and make people go else where. And if Nederland plans on having as many games that they have at the stadium time to lay down turf. If not and wanna stick to grass time to shuffle and use Prather as middle school/freshman/JV field. Move varsity/JV practice on Tuesday to the track field and freshmen can practice either band field/or the baseball field. Doesn’t WOS only use there football stadium for varsity events and everyone else goes to the stadium behind Wells Fargo on McArthur at the middle school? Well, in all honesty, a practice field can be wet down for practice, the same as the stadium field being wet down for a game. Once again, it is a home field advantage & nothing to be ashamed of. the visiting team has the problem, and responsibility to overcome this. No Biggie! No excuses for last year. PNG adapted & began running more in the second half & we were successful. PNG adapted & lost. Nederland executed the last drive & won. It is not an excuse to say the field was watered down, it was a fact! Nederland has out coached us on a regular basis recently. Congratulations to them. Is that plain enough that I feel we lost the game. In fact it is as plain as the watered down field was! Smart move, home field advantage, etc... chorizo

So on one hand you say that PNG was out coached, but still talk about a watered down field. Lol. Which one beat your team? It didn't seem to slow down Roschon. Which one beat your team? It didn't seem to slow down Roschon. The adjustment, that PNG made in the second half, is what turned Roschon loose for running. Our game plan, in the first half, to pass effectively, was slowed down by slick footing. The answer is the field slowed us down & forced us to adapt. (Home Field Advantage Once Again!) Then our coach not having Shug fall down at the one yard line, on his last TD run, & then run the clock down so there would be no time for a Nederland drive, lost us the game. Nederland had a great drive at the end & the two point conversion was executed to perfection. The answer to your question of what lost us the game is all of the above. Plain & Simple! L-Train11
Y’all do realize that if a field is watered down then BOTH teams have to play on that same watered down field. Footing was bad for both teams i would imagine...

Great coaching during the game, great strategy prior to the game & home field advantage!!! Nederland won the game!!! That is the goal. That is why PNG had to adapt. The Indians just were not able to overcome. It was a great last drive & two point conversion by the Bulldogs!
