One team is always going to have the ball. To me, that's part of the Friday night experience... It actually is a rule not sure of the exact wording that the opposing team band is not supposed to start playing while the opposing team on offenseit's at the line of scrimmage. I have not seen it called around here but have seen it called in the Corpus and San Antonio area. Actually seen a game at Alamo stadium where the band got penalized twice and then kicked out of the game.

UIL Football games are conducted under NCAA Rules. As it relates to when a band may play during the game, the NCAA Football Rule Book states: Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (NCAA Rule 1-1-6 and UIL Rule 9-2-1-b-5). PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. 15 yards from the succeeding spot [S7 and S27]. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with other rules. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall be disqualified [S47]. To assist with compliance, consider the following procedures: • Have the band stop playing from the time the Offense (of either team) breaks the huddle until the ball is snapped. • Or, in the case of Offenses that do not huddle, have the band stop playing from the time the Center on Offense is over the ball until the ball is snapped. png9mon

CardinalBacker
Our band will drown OUR offense out.... Then they stood directly behind our team on the track during the third quarter and played and danced for most of the quarter. Dubois shut the band “tracktivities” down, and I hope they never come back.
purpleeagle
I am not for banning them, just require that they be a minimum of 10 miles from the stadium. If you are down on the track, like I am, and that frazzling thing goes off, it is damaging to your ears. Newton's district has a ban on them along with the air horns in the stands. Bronco/Cat Fan
I am not for any of the noise makers being allowed in the stadiums, nor the bands blasting out trying to make it difficult for the opposing team to hear their snap count. raideroldtimer
I like the air horn as long as it is down by the end zone. The band needs to fire things up too.
OleMoe
If they ban the horns then ban the bands. No talking during the game only hand signals. Always someone making waves. RedJollyRoger and EagleLB79

I remember Stephenville in 1999 State Championship Game had giant propane cans with ball bearings in them that they shook almost constantly. I remember how they kept shaking those things to try and drown out Cherokee, but every time the band played it, they were shaking the ball bearings in beat to Cherokee by the end of the song. It made for a neat effect. png9mon
Polar Bear
I'm not a fan of any of the artificial noise makers. I don't like the train horn, but those plastic horns that became popular at the World Cup many years ago were equally obnoxious. How about people just get up and cheer for their team? tvc184
