Just want to ask if anyone knows of silsbee ever beating the PNG Indians and also "Go SHUG"

Actually, PN-G and Silsbee have a lot of history.

The Indians and the Tigers have met 36 times, with PN-G holding a 28-8 winning record. Silsbee beat then-Port Neches (no Groves yet) the first time the Indians ever took the field in 1925, 7-0. Twice, these two teams have met twice in a single year: 1992, where Silsbee beat the Indians both times, and 1999, where PN-G beat the Tigers on both occasions en route to a state championship appearance. Silsbee last defeated PN-G in 1994. Coach Faircloth's Indians have taken on the Tigers three times, and PN-G has won each of those three games.

I think it's about time I put this UT-issued law degree to use.

Ordinarily, in the absence of intended definitions provided within a statute or, as here, a statement, we construe particular words and phrases according to their plain and ordinary meaning in common usage. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "physical" as follows:

Definition of Physical:
1. a. : of or relating to natural science;
    b. (1) : of or relating to physics; (2) : characterized or produced by the forces and operations of physics.
2. a. : having material existence; perceptible especially through the senses and subject to the laws of nature;
    b. : of or relating to material things.
3. a. : of or relating to the body;
    b. (1) : concerned or preoccupied with the body and its needs; (2) : sexual; a physical love affair; physical attraction;
    c. : characterized by especially rugged and forceful physical activity.

Similarly, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "speed" as follows:

Definition of Speed:
1. (archaic) : prosperity in an undertaking; success.
2. a. : the act or state of moving swiftly; swiftness;
    b. : rate of motion, such as (1) : velocity, or (2) : the magnitude of a velocity irrespective of direction;
    c. : impetus
3. : swiftness or rate of performance or action; velocity.
4. a. : the sensitivity of a photographic film, plate, or paper expressed numerically;
    b. : the light-gathering power of a lens or optical system;
    c. : the time during which a camera shutter is open.
5. : a transmission gear in automotive vehicles or bicycles;
6. : someone or something that appeals to one's taste;
7. : methamphetamine; also, a related stimulant drug and especially an amphetamine.

Where multiple possible definitions of a particular word or phrase exist, we choose the definition or definitions which seem most reasonably applicable in the context of the term's usage. Here, the effective phrase "non-physical speed" was used on an online sports messageboard in a discussion regarding a football team from the small, east Texas town of Silsbee. The particular post which first raised the issue of "physical speed" did so by stating that "silsbee have some speed but it's not physical like the past" (emphasis added). In other words, this poster stated that Silsbee is in fact in possession of "speed," but not speed which is "of or relating to physics," which "has material existence," or which is "of or relating to the body."

It being established that Silsbee's speed is not physical, we next turn to the question of what non-physical constructions of speed could be applicable. Here, we determine that the poster's usage of "speed" could not have referred to "the act or state of moving swiftly," a "rate of motion, such as... velocity," a "rate of performance," the "sensitivity of photographic film," the "light-gathering power of a lens," the "time during which a camera shutter is open," a "transmission gear," or methamphetamine, as all such constructions of the word "speed" are innately physical. Therefore, we are left with only two constructions of the word "speed" which are applicable: (1) the archaic construction relating to "success" or "prosperity in an undertaking," and (2) the construction relating to "someone or something that appeals to one's taste." Thus, we are left to conclude that by stating Silsbee is in possession of "speed" but not "physical speed," this poster intended to express that he finds Silsbee's football team (1) successful, (2) attractive (i.e., appealing to his own tastes), or (3) both successful and attractive.

We note that whatever attraction this poster has for Silsbee's football team must not be physical in nature given his emphasis on "non-physical speed," and therefore that he possesses strictly mental or emotional attraction to Silsbee's football team. Likewise, we note that his emphasis on "non-physical speed" precludes the possibility of physical success, meaning that whatever success this poster could be referring to must similarly be mental or emotional. Therefore, we further conclude that by asserting "non-physical speed" on the part of Silsbee's football team, the post in question must be intended to say that Silsbee's football team is (1) mentally and/or emotionally successful (such as in the classroom, or in counseling), (2) mentally and/or emotionally attractive (i.e., intelligent and/or mature, qualities many find attractive), or (3) mentally and/or emotionally successful and attractive.

The real legal question is "who's getting billed for the time you put into this?"

And PN-G avoided Silsbee last year..

Sure did we went to the trouble of bringing Hurricane Harvey to make sure the game did not happen. Now in all seriousness hurricanes speed is even a faster speed than all of them except Gods speed.

PNG has a weaker front 7 this year compared to the last few. Silsbee will have some success running the football. In the end PNG’s potent offense takes over. Indians win this one in a close one 45-35

You are directly wrong. Our front 7 is stronger this year than in the past several years. They will surprise many this season.

Questions to answer? Questions to answer? Who is going to take the heat off of Johnson? Last time we played there was Hughes, Riggs, McZeal they factored in big in helping Johnson. Is there anyone on this PNG team that talented? It will be interesting to see if PNG inexperience WR try to get open. Will the PNG offensive line constantly open holes for the RB and Johnson to run, also how much time is needed for Johnson to be able to throw? This defense of PNG if it is better than last years defense, how much better is it? One touchdown, two touchdown better? Will it be enough? Since Taylor and Martin have started together in the back field for Silsbee only one team slowed them down, Carthage! Now that brings me to Silsbee. Just how well has this offense reloaded at skilled positions? Will thunder and lighten keep on storming along? How has the QB and WRs synched up with each other? How is the defense going to contain Johnson? On the ground or in the air! These are the questions that will be addressed and answered Friday night. You don't know the answers, it will be played out on the field. Lots of tradition will be on the field come Friday. These teams of been playing football sense the 1920's, that's darn near one hundred years. Good luck Friday night and here's to a safe game. TigerNation!!!

I believe you will see a different looking Indians team this week than recent seasons. Our line is a little young but they are huge and running the ball should be a strong point this season for PNG like in 2010. I mean from our running backs. Roschon will always add a whole other dimension to running out of the backfield. We will be ok passing as well. When RJ starts moving the pockets any defense will have to keep honest and with a very viable running game this year it will open up the passing lanes. We do have a receiver who is very good but his first year to start all season. He did play some on varsity last season though. He is #9. The guy that scored the winning TD against Texas City in the playoffs last season at RB #21 Cejas has moved from RB to WR and caught a 60+ yard TD last week against West Brook. If you want to know about the defensive improvement the only suggestion I have for you would be a look at last week against a team many will come to know and respect very soon on West Brook. They are loaded to the teeth. We held them to 13 points with our starters and they were limited on sustained drives. Only two. Both TDs came off of long passes were our backup safety was. #16 Jackson who is a standout safety on our team took the night off due to a minor injury. This defensive line is a strong point in defense and we moved back into a 3 4 defense. I like the possibility of having a more run-oriented team with a very promising defense.

have you watched their front 7 in the past years? The statement you made makes it seem like you don’t watch the games.

Umm ok. I am at almost every game. Which leads me to question your purpose in that statement
