WildcatBacker Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Our defense was looking good early on. I saw signs of promise, so I'm hopeful we can put it all together by district. But I do have to say....all the buzz is warranted. Newton is VERY much for real. Alpha Wolf and GATA! 2 Quote
WildcatBacker Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Btw, its 51-0....3 mins left in the half Quote

kcat-fan Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Hopefully there wasn't any injuries. Well, got that one behind us. Quote
Lefty99 Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Can’t say I didn’t expect this. Heck, I was on the wrong side of a 55-0 throttling by Newton back in ‘98. Craig will have Kirbyville in a good position with time but you’re going to have to take lumps like this. Quote
Billontherig Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Why do that to those boys? Stupid..senseless Quote

Nobody will challenge Newton this yr Kirbyville has speed and good players.. they will be competitive when time comes. Newton just loaded with talent and speed .. they already ready for the playoffs. Only one 1st down for Kville tonight correct me if I'm wrong. Newton was kicking field goals on 1st downs early 2nd half. WildcatBacker 1 Quote

Very possible backups on the team took a running play and scored late. I’m not gonna tell a kid not to score when he just gets in. rhino1877 1 Quote

Newton outmatched us in every way, even the backups were scoring. And what's worth noting here is that it wasn't so much that we had a bad defense. We actually looked pretty decent on that side of the ball. But against Newton's offense, there was nothing we could do. I'm telling you, if you're on Newton's schedule this yr, be ready. You'll get the same treatment. It may not be 71-0 but I can assure you.....all of you will lose. Hazer and dBerrySports 2 Quote

When u plays teams like that u gotta finds ways to slow them down and keep ur offense on the field. But saying it is one thing doing it is another. Quote
dBerrySports Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Good teams in 3A D2 usually have 1 big time stud and a lot of solid parts around him. Newton has 4-5 big time studs with a bunch of really nice parts around them. And great coaching. Quote
OleMoe Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 About running the clock. This year your not allowed to run the clock per UIL rules.. !! Quote
rykerx144 Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 I have no issues with the score or what happened last night. Newton was just that much better. By the time they put the 2s and 3s in last night Kville 1s were so beat down anyone could have scored on them. Newton was respectful and played very sportsmanship ball. Old school eagle Posted September 1, 2018 Report Posted September 1, 2018 Believe me. Coach Johnston took no joy in beating those boys like that. He did everything he could to keep the score down. I don't believe he threw a pass in the second half. The reserves have worked just as hard as the starters and you can't expect them to give less than their best. I hope the Cats can look back on this some day and say this is where the turnaround started. They have some talent. They just need to keep working hard and better days will be ahead. I wish them luck Eagles97, WildcatBacker, NewtonNation and 3 others 6 Quote
