Hard? Don’t you mean impossible lol

We played them in 2014 and they beat us 10-0 probably the closes game our district has gotten. We dropped 3 touch down passes in the endzone  I was sick after that game. Ill say this they shut our run game down and made us throw the ball which opened up our receivers but they couldn't catch the ball. That's the problem with lcm we miss a few guys here and there or if its a big game we get down early the game is over.

not to offend Lumberton but I highly doubt they go pass the 2nd round in the playoffs. I believe they will be matching up with 10 4a. Its hard to beat Carthage

When I looked it up I appeared that they'd match up with 12 4A (Navasota, Stafford, and a crap ton of HISD schools), but I've been known to be wrong.

I think this district is an insult to high school football and should be ignored.

I've been saying this for months.   Bad football and awesome halftime shows.

Probably the whitest district, too.

I’m not even kidding. We put 170 band kids on the field. If you add in the drill team and cheerleaders were easily around 210 or so in the supporting cast.

Lcm and Lumberton both advanced to state in marching band competition (Lum was 5a). We’ve barely missed making that trip the last two times. Huffman’s band isn’t too shabby. You can see some great halftime shows for 4a schools.

The football is just bad, though.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, after 5 weeks, the six teams that make up 11 4A D1 have combined for a total of nine wins.

It’s crazy when you consider that four of those teams are very large for the classification.... three of them (Livingston, Lumberton, and Splendora) dropped down from 5a this year.

With Lumberton whiffing against Silsbee last night, you have to wonder if anybody will step up and accept the DC.

Lumberton will win it. We’ve got a bye week to get healthy and put together an offensive game around the personnel we have left. I don’t see anybody in our district having a defense as athletic and fast as Silsbee or Jasper. We’ve played two tough teams and will get it figured out.

Probably so. It’s just strange to think that our DC would likely finish second or third in either of the local 4A D2 districts. Especially when our probable DC dropped down from 5a this time around.

This district is kinda trashy, IMO.

Yeah none of our teams have a ton of talent walking around.

LCM is 24-8 against Lumberton. Yall got to drive to Orange and it will probably going to be a longer ride home. I just think at LCM its a mindset that we shouldn't lose to teams like BC or Lumberton no offense attended.

We Still lead the series and without the old coach I don’t see y’all beat us this year. Y’all have had more success then Lumberton but y’all are from OC.

    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
