This week, Newton gets the Congrats.  Actually, can give congrats to both for a great football game and effort.  Newton was just better Friday night.  And WOS might have held the Eagles to the lowest point total this year - 21.

Newton Fans how bad was that injured receiver #14 I think. His leg didn't look to good

No team can maintain forever. I think this tough schedule and going to Crosby twice will benefit orange especially for a state run in 2019. This year Jasper may get will have a hardened west orange team.

Jasper will not beat WOS. Look at who each team has played and will play before they meet up. WOS has a great pre-district and holding their own. Jasper has possibly the worst pre-district and possibly district in 4a. Don’t get me wrong, Jasper is a good team, but don’t let these scores and records fool anyone. Jasper/WO-S is still a couple weeks away, but on paper it should go about like this Newton/WO-S game with the Stangs being favored by a couple scores, but you never know in these types of games.

What's crazy is all the talk in the past about how Crosby would run wild on WOS...and then they finally get their shot against the weakest WOS team in the past 5 years. Kinda sucks

This is just not the best stretch in the Mustangs schedule. Sometimes you gotta lose to win again.

How do you know what I support? You took that WAY out of context. This IS NOT the typical WOS team...fact. All the would've could've and should've are neither here not there. They are 1-2, they don't have a QB, and are struggling for points. They are "inexperienced" at most spots on the field at this  year. If you're going to say this team is on par with the last 4 years, you're kidding yourself. With that being said they will be fine, they will make the playoffs, and will be a threat to whomever they play..

And saying they are the weakest team in years isn't calling them weak. WOS set that bar themselves...but I'll be more tactful...they are the most inexperienced team WOS has had in years. Coach T even said as much.

How did they do the last time newton beat them ? So saying that are the weakest is not calling them weak?  So had they won last night would they still be the weakest team in the last five years, heck no you would be saying this young team is gonna make some noise.

Matchups happen when matchups happen and the only thing a team can do is put the players on the field that's on the roster! IMO this is one of the least stocked teams-  playmaker/ standout talent wise- that Crosby has had in the last 5yrs but they've found a way to mesh with what they have.

My main point is yes, WOS May be a little down at the moment but the season is still early. What some are forgetting is just how dang good Newton is this year. I would be willing to bet that is the last time Newton scores 21 points all year. This Newton team is on par with 2016 WOS....just a once in a generation type team....an L hurts but it wasn’t like WOS was beat by an inferior team. Hell, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Newton could run rough shot through 4A also! As I always do, I’ll be rooting for the Eagles to bring some more hardware back to SETX (ok, extreme North SETX) lol.

The Qb that started the first game is now on defense. He came in last night to replace the 10th grader. The field was in horrible condition to throw a ball or run a route. I think some folks are overreacting. Both Qb combined a 6 and 24 passing for the night. I think they should have just shoved the ball down Newton throat running the ball and limited throwing the ball. The score would have been a lot closer

WO-S did not hold the score down. The field held the score down for both teams. I walked across the field before the start of the game and it was like walking in the marsh. I walked across the field after the game and it was debits everywhere. Neither team could cut without slipping. Worst condition I have ever seen. Both teams were exhausted after the game. Each step you would take had your feet sinking into the turf  about 2 inches. Hope WO-S gets that bond passed for new turf. The conditions were very bad for both teams.

Pretty much the same is Silsbee, I was surprised when we tried to get outside on that first series.

Nah...I would take that 2016 Stang team and run through this years Newton team by 21+

There were people talking about that Stang team here in San Antonio and how they would match up with Cibolo Steele. They held a Sweetwater team that dropped 40+ on Gilmer to a doughnut in SC (on offense). That team was something else.

You and your 2016 may not have scored on this Newton team also.Take your loss and swallow. Move on.. I know this Wos team will be standing when it counts no doubt. Newton did what Newton does..

Wos wasn't trying to hold the score down they were trying to win. U make it sound like they were playing not to get blown out. The score doesn't matter if ur not on the right side of it weather u get blown out or not. a win is a win and a lost is a lost in my book. Close only counts in horseshoes and  explosions. wos pop their load and it wasn't enough end of story

All the talk about WO-S finding a QB needs to take a rest. Please. The sophomore QB we have has tracked nicely upward with his play at every level since 7th grade. This was his second start, in wet and sloppy field conditions, with an all time great Newton team in front of him. That should stop being the measuring stick for this kid. He is right where he needs to be. Have patience and show some better reasoning here, please. He will be fine. I expect improvement from him throughout the season. So should you. Watch and see.
