Well we are definitely the underdog in this matchup and now the smallest school in the district with the realignment. I am not going to throw any previous years games out there to compare because this is a totally different team with a totally different mindset. To have a  chance to win I believe we need to be plus 2 in the turnover dept. with minimal penalties. The defense is playing great and there’s plenty of backs that can tote the rock including the QB. I believe the kids will be jacked for this game. Crosby will have to earn it. Should be an exciting game! Hopefully the weather will be halfway decent. Hate to sit in the rain 3 weeks in row! Lol

This is something that has always irked me.. I wish alignment was done with athletic enrollment instead of total enrollment. Would be difficult to do, I know..but for a school with just north of 1000 kids, Vidor fields a relatively small number of kids. I don't know if that's due to parents looking to keep their kids away from contact sports or what.

Anyway, on topic -- Pulling for Vidor of course. Not having good thoughts about it though. But I do love a good underdog story. I did have the same apprehensive feeling toward Vidor vs. PAM in 2016 though, and Vidor surprised me then..so..we'll see.

I get the feeling most fans in our district are rooting for Vidor. Is that because they want to see them do their dirty work for them ?

PNG, Nederland and Vidor have been in the same district together forever it seems. plus everyone loves to root for the underdog Don't feel bad, everybody hates us to. :)

Just curious CCRed - you probably don’t know for sure, but I’m curious who you think Dayton fans might be pulling for?  I know y’all use to have a big rivalry.

I have no idea. I don’t think like people in Dayton do. I don’t ever really care who wins the other games Crosby is not in. But, if I were a Dayton fan, I would be pulling for Crosby. In my opinion, Dayton needs help to get in the playoffs this year. Every loss Vidor, Sante Fe, and BH get will be helpful to them. Although, I feel like Vidor can get into the playoffs anyway.

Riordan preps extremely well for option and ground and pound teams.  Vidor had the talent to win that playoff game but the defensive adjustments they had to learn in a week for Vidor were enough to win.  The playoff win against Port Lavaca, same issue. Heavy, old school option team that threw maybe twice.  Had to play very disciplined defense to win.

That being said, Vidor is absolutely my favorite offense to watch.  I love it.

I get to see the 9th grade teams play on Thursday.  How is the 9th grade team doing?  I would imagine that the younger the opponent, the more the Vidor offense gets rolling

You didn’t run well on Crosby last game and they weren’t in it until the end. Vidor was down 12 at the half and didn’t score again until there was 1 min left in the 3rd quarter, Crosby scored 3 mins later to go back up by 11 and Vidor never got back inside double digits until Crosby ran a safety out of the back of the end zone to kill the clock.

Just becuase Vidor runs the ball a lot doesn’t mean they’re s better running team than Crosby. In two meetings Vidor has 125 rushing attempts for 662 yards, Crosby has 46 rushing attempts for 507 yards. Crosby averages over double what Vidor does per attempt. Nobody cares about the wet field, it’s just makes y’all even slower. Meanwhile you proved my point, BH slaughtered Vidor on a wet grass field yet Vidor played Crosby better on a turf field later.

No matter the weather conditions I think Crosby comes in and makes a statement to open district play.

I don’t know,  6.1 yards per carry for 356 yards on 56 rushing attempts sounds pretty well to me. (Total 440 yards of offense) I’ll take that all day. Sad thing about it is y’all knew we were going to run on almost every play an y’all still couldn’t stop it with just about 11 men in the box! Lol! Just give the kids some credit good grief! Nobody said y’all couldn’t run the ball. Our defense was just weaker than y’alls. Heck didn’t PNG put what about 1000 yards of offense and 75 points on that Mecca of a defense last year! Your stats above just prove y’all couldn’t get poor little ole Vidor with their prehistoric offense off the field! LMAO!!

All Hail to Mecca of Football who is 1 and 1 against little Ole Vidor with the same amount of State Championships as Vidor....Zero! Lol!!

Smh, didn't you try to go to the same well before the Manvel game? Like I answered then, Crosby has the same amount as they do. I can name numerous high level programs with no state titles but for people like you that would be nothing more than an exercise in futility.

You should know all about it, Nederland loses to Crosby every time we meet there.

Ned isn't claiming to be the regional standard with a bunch of 1st and 2nd round exits.   And Ned has been to the third round way more than once in 60 years.  :)

Lol, 14.93 yards per carry sounds a lot better to me. I would say the sad thing is that it took y'all 73 plays to score 22 points with no turnovers while Crosby had two. As an example, you can average 6ypc on four rushing attempts of 20 yards, 2 yards and two 1 yard carries. In that scenario much like the last game went you're punting after four plays. Nobody is taking credit away from Vidor's kids. A statement was made about Vidor running the ball better than Crosby, I simply show you data that said Vidor ran it a lot but not necessarily better or more effectively. I've seen all three games of Vidor's defense on film, it's still weaker than Crosby's and by a significant margin.

PNG had 638 yards, Crosby had 805. Howard put one in the bread basket on the opening drive and Chance Smith dropped it in the endzone which was the difference in the game. Defense last year was the worst I've ever seen at Crosby, new DC and a bunch of dogs have it looking real grim for the Pirate pirogue this round.
