I agree. Manhattan, KS has not been kind to the horns dating back to the Colt McCoy days.

Current staff also has a history of playing down to bad teams. Hopefully that trend will change too.

Thats my whole thing, We all know Tom will get up for the big games, but its the teams that arent as good that we dont play good against ..(Maryland, Tulsa) This game may say more about the maturity/growth of this team more then the USC, Tcu game

The Coaches’ poll is such a joke.  Okie lite ranked 21st this week while Tech is unranked (with the same records), the day after Tech beats Okie Lite in Stillwater, 41-17.   The justification?  Coaches don’t actually vote.

The poll doesn't matter anyway. Nobody outside the top 10 can play Bama within 30, nobody outside the top 5 plays them within 20, and nobody in the country plays them within 10

The only rankings that matter are the CFP rankings, and they don’t come out for a few more weeks.

I think I have two teams right now that could play and possibly beat them

I know why ESPN does not use this ranking. I would kill their narrative with 2 Big 10 teams in the Top 5.

The point is that it’s long been a widely known “secret” that coaches don’t want to bothered with voting in that thing.   And SIDs don’t want that responsibility either so it’s usually whatever lackey the SID throws the form to that votes.  As a result, embarrassing situations arise where you have two teams in the same conference, same record, and the one that is ranked is the one who just got their behinds handed to them in their own stadium by the still unranked team.  That poll should have been scrapped long ago.   The funny part is the average fan has always believed that to be the more accurate poll because “the coaches vote on that one.”

Being involved in our rankings here at SETXsports for football and basketball over the last decade, there are lot's of ways of compiling them. But actual head to head, particularly when it has happened in the last week, should be a big factor when comparing two teams.
