Guest Jody Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 APRIL Bass Most fish have spawned out by now. Look for Bass over grass and tight to structure, especially if a late front passes through. The top water action is picking up they seem to like frogs currently. Try some of the new soft-plastic frogs like "Ribbits" and ri them with a size 4 hook and fish weightless over grass. As always, Lizards during and after the spawn are great. Try them Carolina-Rigged with a 3/8 to 1/2 weight. Spinner baits are also picking up lately, so run them over grass and near structure. I like the gold & silver blade combination, especially the colorado blades. Go for willow-leaf blades if your looking to stay slow and shallow. Watch the backs of coves in the next month to six weeks. The Bass should begin schooling soon and will start chacing baitfish near the creek channels. Keep a rattle-trap and rouge handy. P.S. If you want to catch REAL fish, get out of Toledo and Rayburn and come visit Amistad or Choke Canyon. This is coming from someone who had a place on Toledo for years and loves Rayburn. On Amistad last month we had 42 stringers over 20 lbs after several VARY LARGE tournaments on the lake the weeks before, including the BASS Elite Series.

Conroe has BIG fish all in it. You have too darn may tree-hugging, wave runner riding, carp loving, Austin Texas want-to-be pecker heads on and around that lake to bass fish on a weekend. Fine catfish lake.
