ESPN
Who is the best catcher in the area? Who has the best arm?
Ty Cobb
Colby Hargrave, Junior from Silsbee. He's a wall behind the plate. Better than average arm.
swarmn d
Cody Walker from Newton is one of the best 2A catchers in the area. He is a wall back there.
TigerMom
I agree - Colby Hargrave from Silsbee, excellent catcher. Let's very few balls get past him.
Bears
Best overall is Blake Buchanan PNG hands down. Defense,Arm and Bat #2 Jake Rowell-LCM
MIF04
I'll take Buchanan (esp when healthy). Just a heckuva catcher and a heckuva leader.
FanOfTheGame
Jake Rowell-LCM Good Arm, Wall in front of and behind the plate. Only Junior on the starting line-up, having to command a team full of Seniors.
RETIREDFAN1
I'm going to give a shout out for Tanner Shepherd of Colmesneil.
rhino1877
Seth Williams is a very good catcher. He is just a freshman and a good contact hitter. Swings from the left side and throws on a line.
MIF04
I also like the kid from BH (Campbell). Very nice arm, quick release.

LHS90
I think that Casey Jackson(soph) for Bridge City is one of the best offensive catchers you will see. He also has a very strong arm and blocks the ball really well. He is one that can and probably will play on the next level
MIF04
Casey is our projected "Newcomer of the Year' on the Preseason Team and is living up to that hype quite well.

mustangs_2007
ill say jackson and rowell are both reallly good but what about terry veitch from wos ill say hes doing good having to catch sparks and ayers he can hit the ball and blocks well to
ndnbbdad
Watch out for Jon Carnahan (soph) for PNG. He is a wall behind the plate , frames the ball better than any I've seen and swings a great stick. He's taking a back seat to a senior heavy team but has stepped up to the plate when needed. Homer
Buchanan and Rowell are both great catchers but if I had to choose 1 I would have to go with Barrera from Hamshire Fannett. He recieves the ball very well and has a cannon. Great stick also.
adminbaberuth
Catching is a tough position, but a quick way to get to the next level. I remember coaching in little league in the old days ,when your 12 players showed up for the 1st practice after the draft. It wasn't on my mind who who was going to pitch or play short short. I usually had to pass out of few gloves for the ones without, explain the reason for needing cleats instead of converses and that we had a team bat that all could use. Even though the pitcher and shortstop may have been the best players at that age, my catcher, whoever took that position was most respected on the team. Even at that age , the pitcher and shortstop new they couldn't succeed without him and gave him respect.

MIF04
Carnahan is also a good one. He stepped in while Buchanan was out and did agreat job. The class of 08 has a good compliment of catchers to choose from.
Guest BobcatBeliever
I haven't seen some of the catchers from the larger districts, but Casey Jackson is one heck of a ballplayer.
BobcatBacker
I haven't seen some of the catchers, but I have seen Casey Jackson. To be a Soph., he is amazing. Not only does he do a great job catching one of the best rotations in high school baseball, but his batting average must be through the roof. He has either got a hit or walked every time I've seen him bat.
