Guest Nederland Bulldogs Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Word is we're going to the spread this season? Do we have the right players for that? Opinions please.
fbplayer999 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 no, they should use the straight T formation with 2 TE's
WOS92 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? That's strange.
Guest Penny Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Question was do they have the right players for that... my assumption is that since they have not typically run much spread in the past, this is a change that has been thought out. Since most regard the Nederland coaching staff as having somewhat of a clue about how to get something out of what their working with... I would say without knowing the details that YES THEY DO HAVE THE PERSONNEL FOR IT. Sampere seems to be a pretty agile kid, and they have several quality recievers, so sounds like a good move to me?
tvc184 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Didn't PN-G try that a couple of years ago and had the wheels come off?
WOS92 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I can't picture it, but I am not nearly as familiar with the Bulldog roster as y'all are. For WO-S, the spread was only truly an asset with Beasley, who was better than any of our RBs. No offense, but I don't think Big Ned has a Beasley on board (nor does WO-S).
Guest wos89 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 No our wise OC wants to go to the I formation. :
Bigdog Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 We got a taste of it against LC last year. Sampere can run and throw, ala a Brad Sullivan.
BMTSoulja1 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 didnt' lumberton run out of that? They was successful with it, but didn't make the playoffs. Dont think it's a good idea. I like Nederlands offense now with the two running backs packed in close.
GoDogs27 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I hope it works well for us this season... We tried this same sort of deal with Hood at the helm in 04, but it didnt work out too well and we dropped it before district started.... But thats what predistrict is for... We will see... I think Neumann and Barrow know what they are doing... This style of offense is typical of really successful teams such as Southlake Carrol...
DP#1FAN Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 If you have the talent then yes but like my grandmother says " You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s&*^". I can't see the Dogs changing things after the success they have had. Good luck to Nederland this coming season. Haven't they made the playoffs the last 10 years or something like that?
Guest Ozen Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 If it won't work in non district Newmann will change it.
Lucky Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Come on, If it ain't broke....................................you know the rest !But they most likely have the players to pull it off.problem is: Nederland is a ball control type team and there is not alot of TO possesion with the spread. It could hurt em.But, good luck with it Dogs.
outanup Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Its my understanding that the DOGS are just adding some new looks, I dont think they are abandoning there old offense.
adminbaberuth Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Whatever offense the Dogs choose it want be pretty. Game 9 or 10, it's prime time.
Guest Nederland Bandit Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 I think we're staying with the original O
Bigdog Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 You will probably see a hybrid offense. There will be some spread O run, especially with Sampere at QB, and some of the old smashmouth Nederland O.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Can't see the spread working in Nederland, not enough overall team speed...Smash mouth football between the tackles is what Nederland needs to be focused on.
SFA85 Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 No they don't. And if Sampere(sp) is all that, why didn't he start last year???
Guest Nederland Bandit Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Hey SFA, Memorial's defense sucks and we would beat Memorial!
SFA85 Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 The only thing y'all could be PAM in is baseball, softball, and the amount of former mascot handlers posting trash online. And I'm curious to match stats between PAM's d and the Swiss cheese brigade of Nederland lol
Guest Nederland Bandit Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 We'll see how far your favorite Coach RTG gets this year.
SFA85 Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 I'm the biggest critic of PAM's lack of D. According to the Chronicle, the StoneWall D of Nederland average 20 yards less that PAM on yards allowed to a schedule with Forest Brook, Lumberton, and Vidor plus having the #1 LB in the state(despite him playing a 7 tech)I bet you don't know what a 7 technique is do you? Most male cheerleaders/internet nerds don't.
Bigdog Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 You only know what you read in your "how to play football" books that you borrowed from the local library. Admit it, you were the head male cheerleader for PAM.
SFA85 Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 No bignerd, I actually played the game. Even got and article in the PortNeches news before the started slobbering all over MC. Now you on the otherhand, probably wore the dog costume didn't you lol
