The Evil Empire always has room for Astro fans who get fed up!
KFDM COOP Posted April 3, 2007 Author Report Posted April 3, 2007 Long season i'm afraid for Longball Lidge!!!! >
vp93 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Base running errors cost them tonight. Yes, Lidge giving up the homerun hurt but with another run and they would have won anyway.
lonestar Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I'm not sure I can take another season of Lidge as the closer.
Guest Diva Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I'm not sure I can take another season of Lidge as the closer. If they don't do something with or about Lidge I'm gonna have to keep my hairdresser on speed dial to color all the new gray hair I'll have after each game!! >
adminbaberuth Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I had company come by, Lidge did close it out after that great performance by Oswalt ?
AstroFan99 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 : I feel real sorry for Oswalt. He pitched a heck of a game and LIDGE gave him no respect Again. How can a guy even go back in the dug out after a performance like he does time after time? Maybe something good will come out of this since it is early in the season. AAA needs Lidge don't they?
CraigS Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 How sad. With 2 outs too. He may never recover (in his head). Not just 2 outs..........but a 1-2 pitch...........then again.........O" pitch was a 1-2 also, if I remember correctly! The other thing, we all remember the blown saves, especially the one's blown with the bomb........but he's still one of the TOP closers in each of the last several years, in terms of number of saves.......he gets 40 or near 40 each year......yes his blown save, numbers have risen.....but I think he only blew like 5 last year.......let's hold off the execution, the season is still young!
CATS80 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 The other relief's didnt do very good either. :'(I hope they get it together quik
Lazeek Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Lights oout Lidge!!!!!!! Gotta love him!!!!!! Do you think he still has nightmares about the bomb that Pujols hit!!!
Guest Diva Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Not just 2 outs..........but a 1-2 pitch...........then again.........O" pitch was a 1-2 also, if I remember correctly! That wouldn't be too much of an issue if his "blown saves" wouldn't have been KEY GAMES! Lidge has a long way to go for me to have any confidence in him.
numbertwo Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 The top 2 in the rotation looked solid for both teams. Snell could maybe be a 20 win pitcher if he didn't play with the Pirates. Jennings looked good, also. So far pitching is there, just need the offense back.
KFDM COOP Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=2704031180-2 against the mighty Pirates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :
bobcatfan Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 The one thing i took away from todays game was Jason Jennings. I hadnt seen him much before so i was curious to see how good he was. He looked good, and i am encouraged that he will have a good year. Wheeler didnt have great location tonight and they scored on a couple bloop hits, it happens... I think Qualls and Wheeler will be fine in the long run, who knows with Lidge, he'll probably be up and down. The thing i'm concerned about is our offense, 4 runs in 2 games....Although i like what Burke, Scott, and Lane have done, just wait till Berkman and Lee get going and we'll see maybe it'll pick up.PS. please call up Nieve soon. I predict a 6 era for wandy this month. At worst Nieve could be in the pen, where he was a stud last year.
AstroFan99 Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 I agree Jennings looked very good tonight. We need some relief pitching badly. This is going to be a very long season. Our starters best get their arms in shape if they wish to win some games. > > > > > > >
Guest Diva Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 I think Berky will get going around late May. He's not in the zone yet. It takes him a while to get going. Hopefully he won't let us down.On Monday's game broadcast, did anyone see Bagwell sitting in the booth next to Purpura? Baggy looked very thin, but still looked good none the less. I'm sure he was wishing he was down on the field!
Diehardstro Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 I saw Bagwell. Looked to me like he glanced at Timmy P. a couple of times with that "I'd like to slap you crosseyed" look. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think he likes him too much. Jeff looked good to me, but yeah you know he misses it.Professional baseball teams hype opening day so much, through the entire off-season, that it's no wonder fans go ballistic when they fall on their noses in the first series. There were more fans present opening day than there were for the playoffs.Oswalt and Jennings looked grand. I thought Jennings performance was better than anything Pettitte gave us in the first half while he was here. Berkman will be fine. Lee will be fine as well, he just needs to take a deep breath. Looked like he was trying to earn his money all in one swing a couple of times. Not much you can say about the pen. At least not much nice.... With all this pitching depth we've heard talk of all spring, there has got to be a closer in there somewhere. Heck White looked better than anyone. Besides, he is obviously on my diet so I am prejudiced! No way to go but up. Go Astros!
bobcatfan Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Can anyone get the game on tv? I have time warner and its not on my tv.....
