KFDM COOP Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Rockets' Yao is NBA Western Conference Player of the WeekNEW YORK - Rockets center Yao Ming and the Toronto Raptors' Chris Bosh today were named the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 26 through Sunday, April 1. Yao averaged 30.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.25 blocks in leading the Rockets to a 3-1 week. Yao posted three straight double-doubles to close the week, including consecutive games with 35 or more points against the Lakers and Jazz. Yao scored 39 points on 11-of-18 shooting and 17-of-21 free throws on March 30 in a 107-104 win at the Lakers. Since Yao returned to the Rockets' lineup from injury on March 3, Houston owns an 11-4 mark. Bosh averaged 22.3 points on .473 shooting to go along with 14.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in leading Toronto to a 3-1 week, which also led to Toronto clinching a playoff berth for the first time since 2001-02. With 13 points and 18 rebounds in a 96-83 win over Miami on March 28, Bosh became the Raptors' career double-doubles leader with 111. Bosh poured in 37 points and added 14 rebounds and five assists the next time out in a 123-118 overtime win against the Wizards. Here is a closer look at the week for Yao and Bosh: Yao Ming, Houston Rockets March 26 vs. Milwaukee: Tallied 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 106-87 win over the Bucks. March 28 @ L.A. Clippers: Added 24 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in a 92-87 win against the Clippers. March 30 @ L.A. Lakers: Pumped in 39 points to go along with 11 rebounds and four blocks as the Rockets edged the Lakers 107-104. April 1 vs. Utah: Posted 35 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in an 86-83 loss to the Jazz. Chris Bosh, Toronto Raptors March 26 @ Boston: Tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 95-87 loss to the Celtics. March 28 vs. Miami: Posted 13 points, 18 rebounds and four assists in a 96-83 win over Miami. March 30 @ Washington: Netted 37 points along with 14 rebounds and five assists in a 123-118 overtime win against the Wizards. April 1 vs. Charlotte: Totaled 24 points, 16 rebounds and five assists in a 107-94 victory over the Bobcats. Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Boston's Al Jefferson, Detroit's Chauncey Billups, Los Angeles Clippers' Cuttino Mobley, Phoenix's Leandro Barbosa and Seattle's Rashard Lewis.
